damn it, for the first time ever having a 1964 is annoying! Normally i bask in the glorey of being pre-1973.

Time to look for a new old car i think.

(the price of pre-1960 vin plates has just sky-rocketed too)

I wonder if all the owners who called for this realise tha they will no longer be allowed to remove the cherished no from a pre 60 vehicule ? i can see a rash of numbers coming on the market

I've had a trawl around and all the searches say the same, might be worth a go...
Think I'll scrap my 63 IIA and my 72 SIII !

Getting through an MOT isn't that much hassle once a year, I don't see the fuss really - other than saving £50?

To be Honist I see this as a bad thing

Some people are gonna put some right old weeks back on the road that really shouldn't be there

The mot is to make sure your vehicle is in a road worthy condition and therefore safe to be on the road

in fact the number of accidents caused by a mechanical fault is tiny, even less with an old car, the % of this type of accidents has not altered much in all the years of the mot test.
countries that dont have an mot like Canada have no more accidents than us. Please discount the " my brakes failed but they have come back now prats". There is however a valid reason to have exhaust emissions checked, but this will not apply to most series,s

christ is this true , if it is how the hell are the police gonna control this legislation, i know a bald tyre is a bald tyre but everyone's idea of SAFE can be very different ,just because you think it is safe a coppers idea maybe very different and in court your gonna have to have an mot inspector or some one from vosa to convince the judge you wer right and mr policeman was wrong, i can see this as a possible back door to get rid of or seriously curtail the use of these old vehicle's not just land rovers but all motor's pre 1960 , :argue::hurt::rulez:
