Had the top radiator hose on the Disco go on me yesterday about 80 miles from home. Tried to fix it with tape (failed miserably) so we limped to the mother in laws to try and find some better fix.

While we were looking for stuff to try I saw one of their pushbikes and had a brainwave.

Got one of their repair kits out and treated the split like a puncture, putting the patch on and wrapping duck tape round it.

Worked a treat and got home with no loss of coolant at all :)

Puncture kit takes up very little space and could get you out of a pickle one day. I will certainly carry one from now on!

silicone compression tape aka ALFA tape or rescue tape is yer best bet. It can be used on coolant, fuel and turbo hoses.;)

That's yet another name for what I said.;)

Shud ov had a fooking disclaimer then.

"This product is known as self amalgamating tape and is available from other suppliers"

Ya spamming Bastid..... :p :p

cant believe my luck . i have just discovered a split in one of the coolant hoses at lunch today then stumbled on this thread. i shall be going to my local hardware store tomorrow to pick up some of the tape .

you guys rock

Why don't you go an buy a new hose instead?

will be doing just that when i
a) get round to it works manic at the moment
and b) get some money to re do all the hoses
