Hi All

may have finally clinched a deal on another project...

1995 110 hard top van 300tdi

couple of questions
What gearbox will it have in it ( forgot to look)

it it the LT77 or the R380

Also may have the option on another roof / hard top with windows in it.

What benefits to fitting it or not.

Other than the obvious,.. more light, but nosey parkers can see in the back..
Any difference in vehicle classification or not, will still be 3 door 3 seats or maybe 2 if i change them been poking around on here RX8 seats seem to be quite popular..

Probably should fix my 90 first but still waiting on the bloody seal,, see my water in timing case thread..
and i do like a project..

forgot to check... if not i would know.

Will post pics when the deal is finished and i have it in my yard.

thought some font of all knowledge like @jamesmartin would know by the year what it had fitted. 1995 N reg 300 tdi panel van.

it would be an r380 as all 300s are unless someones decided to change that

Cheers Mate

Knew you would be the man to know, just forgot to look.. it has been stood for some years, but it started and ran..

Wouldn't rev but guess that could be crap diesel etc. plan on doing a fluid swap if the deal comes off first and then while it is on the ramp see what nasty suprises there are underneath.. Looked preety good whilst grovelling around on the floor

wasn't there an issue with early R380 boxes i seem to recall ? Didnt pay too much attention as my 90 is Lt77

R380, roof and sides are a personal choice.
If carrying passengers then windows are good, just rubbish in the back, leave it as van sides.

yes snapped main shafts and lay shafts, yours should have been fixed by now considering it still works, but change oil once a year , they last longer with clean oil, running with dirtyoil was a big issues too

right been and see the man again today, no log book but def his vehicle.

hasn't been taxed since 2003 and no Sorn declaration.

Believe if i have receipt for the date of purchase and apply for new V62 with me as new registered keeper and apply for sorn in same envelope. then i just pay a fee and i have no liability for any costs incurred for the vehicle when Not sorn previous to the date of purchase.

Is that correct..?

Hoping to get the deal done this week and collect it over the weekend..

SORN came in after 2003 (can't remember exactly when). I have a bike which was taken off the road and left in a shed for 10 years before I bought it in 2004. I did get the V5 with it and registered it in my name and have the V5C. It hasn't been taxed since 1993 (i think) and is not sorned as it was not a requirement when I got it and the rule is not retrospective. (I havn't use it on the road, just on a race track).

Just register it in your name online. When the new log book gets to you, sorn it online.
You can't sorn it until you own it.
No need for receipts etc.

Found this on Govt website
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/v890-statutory-off-road-notification-sorn

" Details
You can make a SORN online or by phoning 0300 123 4321 if you’re registered as the vehicle’s keeper.

If you’re not yet registered as the vehicle’s keeper, you must make a SORN by post using a V890 form. Please fill in the appropriate part of the V5C and send it with the V890.

If you don’t have the V5C, fill in form V62 (there’s a fee) and send it with the V890. "

The fee for new logbook £25 delay with paper applications due to Covid

Hope i can get it for Sat...lol

Well peeps

Deal done i am now the proud owner of a 1995 N Reg 110 defender 300tdi Panel Van
and half shares in a B reg 110 4c with i believe a 2.5n/a in it.
Both have been stood in a field for some years

110 4c havent tried re starting yet. but both now washed, this one needs somne welding on the chassis, will know more when i put it on the ram

300tdi starts, run, chasis looks good, but waiting to get on the ramp to have a good look.

Daren't put either in the workshop until i get my 90 out and on the road.

Have hidden the 110 4c in a barn at another location on farm for now til i get something running...lol

1995 110 defender with 300tdi in it and r380 gearbox.

should it be on discs on the back at that age ?

First look underneath, looking good, 2 issues pre MOT, it has twin fuel tanks but think the one under seat is had it, and windscreen wiper don't work
