Muddy Nuts
New Member
Hi Guys, I'm new to your forum and new (ish) to the 2002 freelander TD4 (bmw), I bought it knowing it had a few problems but it never ends.
If any of you lads could offer some advice it would be much appreciated.
I know I should have bought a disco or a 110 ect but hey oh.
So the main problem is loads of smoke but the strangest thing is the long rubber pipe that goes from the intercooler to the plastic manifold is inploding, its like the turbo isn't making enough pressure over and above the demand of the engine.
The turbo shaft feels good, and spins freely but what I have found it the vane lever is very tight or seized. I know this won't help but could it be the cause of the pipe inploding and stalling the engine.
So what I have changed,
4 recon injectors,
turbo actuator solonoid
MAP sensor
Synergy 2 + pitbuerg maf
De cat
egr bypass
2 wheel bearings
2 front speed sensors the 3 Amigos still on
All filters including turbo breather's
Before it failed today it went fairly well until you came accross a hill and it would lose its boost, guessing again the seized lever causing over boost but again it it was over boosting all the time it wouldnt inplode the intake pipe.
Apart from all that its not a bad motor, I just bought it to drag my trials bike about and work transport.
If I can help anyone with advice or reason why I changed anything please ask.
Thanks in advance.
