So im wanting to buy a 90 and one ive been offered is an 1984 (A Plate, doing a reg check it says first reg was 02 may 1984 if that helps), its a 2.5 N/A Diesel, car has No Mot, solid chassis, needs new prop shaft as its noisy, couple other bits (about £60 worth), and some bits such as some of the brake pipes etc since the car stood in grass for 2Years. So im wondering whats the highest i should pay for it? What should i look out for? and what are they worth when fully working, no faults with a years MOT?

Thanks

£450 is all I paid for mine, you can always up offer

Be careful! why hasnt the owner sorted the few bits out and got a years MOT on it? sometimes people just cant be arsed, other times its because its going to cost a fortune.
Really need some pics, but tbh no more than a few hundred.
Worth getting someone who knows them to take a good look.
Overall I love the 90 and 110 I have an ex mod 110 and they are slow but simple to work on and cheap parts.
Take some pics and show us more detail

Sorry i forgot to mention the main point, the car had been restored a few years ago, paint job looks MINT, Decent tyres.

Its in Scotland if that changes anything

I know they guy selling it, he put it away with like 6 months MOT due to the prop shaft and the fact it was underpowered for him (he tows tractors etc)....and maybe the fact he has a few other pick ups a lot more comfortable.

Still stand by why if its mint why dont they MOT it and get loads more dosh?
Could be bargain of the day but no MOT and as far as I am concerned its spares or repair.
Fanatic said about £450 paid for his I paid £1900 for mine with full MOT and loads of history, though still needed work so make an offer of £450 and see what reaction you get

Ok sounds a bit better now. Prop shaft bent? new UJ's are cheap and new prop is around £50-60, maybe ask him what his best price is and work from there :)

Sounds like a crock of ****e. and the 90 doesn't sound much better. £500 max

ive got a pic of it i found on the internet (yes the exact land rover) He wants 1.5K for it (WAY to much i personally think), i was thinking 1K? 1.2K at max if its completely rust free and overall mostly good condition.

You're either braindead or persistant. Which part of £450/£500 are you struggling with. IT's 84. NA so it'll be fooked, It's a landrover FFS

Right, So thats the S.o.R price, but what about one with a years MOT etc? what would its re-sale value be? as i cant find too many N/A to compare

Just remembered another fact, when the guy bought the landy hes been told it has a 110 front end, neither of us actually know if that makes a huge difference

Max £2000 maybe £2500 at a push to a complete novice with everything right

generally getting too old and a MOT'd K reg similar money

So it has a bonnet pull instead of an outside lock-whoopy doo

is it on coils or a dodgy series looking like a 90

1st 90's weren't sold to the public until End June 1984. so either it's one of the earliest 90's sold in which case it's worth £10K fully restored. or it's a series 3 with a defender front end. or it's a 110 reg plate and it's a ringer..

Sounds like orange tax exempt

So still having the smallest amount of faith in this car, maybe its a genuine Very early 90? But if i was to go there and check if its a series or not, what could tell me if its a series or a 90?

yes i would obviously check vins etc (Yes i still remember it says its a 110 on reg check but id also want to check the papers as maybe the data base might be incorrect? )
