i have a 1995 v8 4L petrol p38 range rover. its telling me that key code is locked out and the engine is immobilised. looking through the manual, i have gone through the renetry process many many times now and it still does not work. i have done it in the right order with the right number of turns to the back of the car and the right number forward, evertime i turn the key the alarm bleeps. if this helps, for some reason the central looking has stopped at the same time. never had a problem with central locking, so i assume the lock out has something to do with this. any thoughts??????????

You indeed have a lockout.
If you're sure the drivers door lock is servicable & it's not this that's stopping the EKA process else the becm has to come out.

Where about's are you?

You might want to PM Irishrover.

Just a thought: Are the batteries (Cr2025 3v) flat in the remote control? Quick way to check is look for the red led lighting when you press the lock/unlock it also should flash as you put in into and turn the ignition. If they are flat then the remote can't 'talk' to the immobilser. This could explain your engine disablled message but not sure about the EKA problem.
Good Luck

cheers mate, the drivers door works fine. what and where is the bcem? is that the thing to unplug and leave unlpuged to reset the entire system?

No its a bit more involved than that.. it needs to be hooked up to a diagnostic/resetting software and then reset. Oh and its under your seat.

However I'd first go ahead and put fresh batteries in the remote and then try the EKA again. Slowly. The way I do it is I use the key to lock the car and then I leave it for 30 seconds. Then 4 turns anti-clockwise, returning to the centre after each. This tells the car to now expect the EKA to be input. Now start entering the EKA, first clockwise (return to centre after each turn and go slowly), then anti, then clockwise again and one more anti. Finally turn the key to unlock and ALL FOUR DOOR LOCKS should pop up together. That means its worked. You can start the car to check. If its worked you can then resync the key with the remote for good measure. Keep the door open and insert key. Turn to lock while simultaneously pressing lock button on remote. Now turn to unlock while press unlock button. You're set. If however your car didn't start, then you should go the BECM route.

I had the similar problem and the car would not accept the code, because the bonnet was open...
Ones shut, it was all okay.

Hi i had this troubble with my P38, i discoverd that the car goes into a super lockout after 3 failed attempt at the EAK code. i had 2 problems the lock was all clogged with crap so the code wouldnt work properly.

eventually i discoved the RPI in norfolk who gave me the correct EAK code and i cleaned the lock out with some break cleaner after removing the door card. then for some reason the guy then disconected the battry and joined the termanals together. for around an hour. once he reconnected the battery he shut all the doors and bonnet he waited a further hour.

Then he tried the code again and hey presto. now im not saying this will work for everyone but it worked several times for me. then i had the imobaliser disarmed or removed by the STEELER.
