Compressor for ac is chirping. I’m pretty sure that’s the route anyway. Obviously changed the serp belt and main pulley for that anyway.
I’m going to try and fix the AC. It works on the dash so hopefully wiring is ok but nothing happens when it’s on and I’m 90% sure that’s the chirp.
Part number for replacement AC pump bearing is:

30BG05S2G-2DS

Knob. I don’t think it was the clutch bearing piping up (although it really sounded there). Took the belt off and the bottom idler is clearly on the **** - visible just by spinning by hand. Need to find that part but for now I don’t need AC anyway!
Have done a little rear door build….

Been driving her as a daily when I don’t need to have a child seat. Been bang on. Makes me very excited for the restoration. After going back and forth and actually using the 300tdi, the resto will be staying 300. It’s a lot more cash for not much reason. Cash I can’t warrant. A solid 300tdi can be built cheaply in engine build terms and I actually like the 300tdi engine.

Steering still isn’t quite right. Wheel is out by couple degrees and still feels a bit skittish. Could be the hd springs on rear as it did lots of trailer work before me.

Very nostalgic driving an old 90s car about after getting so used to new stuff.

A new grill came to replace the cracked one and in the same purchase I got a vgc cd changer head unit for the resto. Sad perhaps but I really wanted that in there with the changer!
