Okay, im not trying to make an argument here but I just wanted to post some pics of modded P38s. Im apologise if the pics may not be of your taste but its nice to know there are peoples out there taking great effort to make their P38 standing out from the crowd :) Well, here are some pics which I think I got it from here..

I wouldn't class those as "Modded" ....more "Brightened Up" & "Tastefully" made to look better ... ( Bit of colour on the Grill & new style wheels ect)

They are not P38's made to "LOOK LIKE" L322's with "Bits" stuck on em everywhere & Pimp Lights underneath ect

Looks like your P38 is ready to go offroad anytime. Great looking car Karel :)

Totally agree Great looking Car Karel, I've always bin in 2 minds as to hangin the spare on the outside, I think what puts me off is fitting the "Swing Arm" & having to unlock it everytime I wanna get in the boot...

Errrrrr...... Then again!!..................... See you've got me thinikin about it again now!!!!

WRONG!Youd have to be mad to say they looked good!Who are these people to say they know better than the car designers? And them silly wheels, no use or orniment

Yes people do know better than the designers...thats why cars are face lifted all the time...to keep up with trends set by modders....then there is the other side of it...do you think the designers made a good job of the P38? and should be left totally alone...if thats the case then everytime someone solves a inherent reliability issue they are doing wrong in your eyes. Alot of these cars are for urban use and never see a muddy track. The guys wear Paul Smith and Armarni, Addidas and Rebox. So they have a different visual expectation to the Mud plugger who thinks Hunter wellys, Plus fours and camoflarge look good. Flat cap or baseball cap..we all have different expectation from these cars...niether is right or wrong...you pay your money and you make your choices. Each to their own!!!!!

Prefer these to the original pics, the only pic i liked from the first lot was the blue one (pic 2 i think) which looked like a decent conversion. As for ppl making there p38s stand out from the crowd. How does making your P38 look like a L322 make it stand out? all you have done is make your car look a little newer but not worth much extra and for a few extra £££s from p38 + conversion you could have had a proper one anyhoo. :)

Agreed :) but some of these pics would be better placed in Barryboys.co.uk than LZ, even you must agree that aswell as progress most modders just make monsters (and not in a good way).

Again alot of mods are not to my taste, but i can appritiate the time and effort and cash taken to try to set new trends. Its like most modern cars these days use double light unit set ups ( as in the l3222) where as b4 it was nearly all single unit lens ( as in the p38 ) this change came about from modders making this change to Escort Xr3i`s golfs and Peugeots 205s 106s ect. Companies like morrette lights saw this trend and developed to make fitting kits ect. Modders do a good job in general and are good for the industry. The motor industry soon followed suit.

But u still hav to respect other peoples cars.
But ya wrong-again!
And about age, im 28(that might be over the hill but i dont think so).Im from essex and see chavy boyd up motors all th time. The same motors blow up on the m25, break down on the 406 and generally are a nusance.Spend the money ya spent chaving ya motor on maintainin it.Or save it and by a better motor.I appricaitae a good car, not a turd thats been polished.A fiesta popular 1.1 with kit wheels n dump valve sound effects is still a 800 quid motor even if ripspeed have 2k of ya readies.SOz but true.

I'm sorry but I can appreciate other people opinions, i'm only 21 so I suppose it's a young thing to modify cars. I've had older mercs that were modified an some people liked them some didn't. But I can appreciate it if people have a perfect standard vehicle but I Like modified so it's all to do with opinion. But u still hav to respect other peoples cars.

I am alot younger than you and even i think they look ****! I like modified cars, but only if they are nicely done. Not lost it round a corner and ended up going through halfords backwards!

For instance, My mate has a lowered 106. Fair enough it is not my taste in car HOWEVER he has modified it nicley and it not OTT. It has a larger exhaust than standard however it is hidden so it does not look stupid, alloy wheels again they are not standard but don't look stupid, Window tint but not to dark he looks like a drug dealer.. All "Chavy" things but he looks after it well and does not make it look ****!

Very nice :)

Just a question here, apart from Overfinch, who else make a bodykit for P38?

Will the latest L322 bumper looks good on a P38 (without changing the headlight ;) )?

All i would say is your cars your own to change.... However why buy a car if you dont like the way it looks???

I cant think of a car that has followed suit from any bolt on modification, otherwise there would be no need for car designers as all they would need to do is have a look at the ripspeed catalogue and save £££s before releasing a new model.

P38s came with double units (or at least mine did with standard lights) and double lamps were available long before Morrette or anyone had looked into it (mk3 capri for example). All morette did was jump on a band wagon of chav cars and make a profit which I cant fault them for doing ;)

I can appreciate proper modifications where time and effort has been put in (bodywork fabrication etc.) but most alleged mods nowadays are just bolt on parts that you buy from halfrauds/demon tweeks etc and do not stand out cause anyone daft enough to spend £2000 on a £500 car can do the same.

I like the clear indicator upgrades thats about it ,could anyone tell me did the p38 have the headlights upgraded (changed slightly) when the clear lights came in?
My thoughts on the question "why buy a car if you don`t like it" is They probably can`t afford a L322 so they try to make their p38 look like one, usually pretty badly but not all. Its a little sad really its like all some think about is the number plate they`ll go and buy any ****e as long as it looks as new as the neighbours.just my opinion though

Well, iv had a skyline that i modded...up to 640 bhp. i diddnt have the £200,000 to spend on a hyper car..but £20,000 of mods did it..oh and a evo 8 modded up to 412 bho...everytime i put in a better CD player..its a mod...every time i uprate the breaks..thats a mod....de-cat...its a mod...lpg conversion...its a mod....tints...its a mod.Better Tyres...its a mod. ect ect ect...............

Sorry I thought we were talking about external mods here but anyhoo

what part of those made it stand out from the crowd? (unless you sit in the car park blasting tunes with your bonnet up for the world to see). the only things you would see are tints and possibly the brakes depending on what wheels you have both of which can actually be assumed as safety/security as well as modifications.

£20,000 of mods + a skyline would have got you at the least a TVR, although not a hypercar looks a damn site better than a tuned family saloon and prob just as quick :) and I dont think they took any of their inspiration from morrette or ripspeed either.

Are u mad I know people have different opinions of what looks good but still u would have to be mad to say that they don't. I know people like to keep it standard but u have to appreciate the effort others put in.

kinell mate no. i looked at the fred title and was hoping to see some off road modified p38's not ****ing drug dealer wagons. they are about as tasteful as a well used 50 year olds hookers minge.

for the record, i am younger than you. and i think they look like ****ing ****. what is the point in fitting alloys like that and low profile tyres to a 4x4?? actually, what is the point in having a 4x4 if you are going to do that. buy a bloody road car. what has been done there is made a car **** off road, and still only average on road. if you want a fast, responsive car on road buy a bloody scooby. i have modified my land rovers, well some of them. and they were all modified with the purpose of making them better off road. aesthetics didnt have a great deal to do with it. i even put a go faster stripe down the side with a tree trunk.

i mean honestly, gagworthy

theres a company called rongeover.com based in sunny brum.i,ve seen in the flesh a p38 with a full rr sport bodykit and if were been honest i thought looked the dogs dangly,s.quoted £7500 all in with paint job,or £2500 diy job.which when you think if your handy with your hands you could have extremely nice looking p38/rr sport hybrid for £5000 all in.which compered to your £20000 sport price tag can,t be bad:)
