From the sounds of it you battery is flat. Do you own or have access to volt metre? Measure the voltage across the battery. You should get a reading close to 13v. If it is closer or lower than 12v then it needs charging (at least). Put it on a charger and let it build a good charge. If it starts after that build the revs up to 2000rpm and measure the voltage again. It should closer to 14v. If not you alternator is not charging. If it is then you may have some circuitry draining your battery. Common cause is the RF receiever.

To be a little more precise, a fully charged battery should read 12.8 volts 30 minutes after charging stops. 12.2 volts or lower is pretty much a flat battery. Charging should be 14.2 to 14.8volts at 2000rpm.
Either your new battery is faulty, quite common these days, or something is draining it, usually this is a faulty RF receiver keeping the BECM awake.

interesting ive just put my metre on batt showing 11.7v
im now gona charge my old batt up overnight and check in moarning
i realy hope its such a simple job and will be returning batt to halfords

They are not know throughout the trade as Halfrauds for nothing.

If it turns out to be the battery don't assume that charging it or even replacing it will cure your problems. Something caused the battery to go flat and you need to establish what that was fingers crossed it is your driving profile (lots of short trips). Alternator's and RF receivers cost a bit more than a 30 min drive once a week.:D
