What is recommended ?
Vehicle will probably be a 99-2002 4.6 Thor.
I see the Nanocom mentioned a lot which from what I have seen is the best part of £500 ?
The icarsoft says it is suitable for "Range Rover P38 2001 onwards Petrol only" & "Range Rover 1999-2013" & is only about £100 ?

There is a reason the Nanocom is the best part of £500.00.

There is better than Nanocom but it’s less versatile and big bucks.
Nanocom does 99.9% for fraction of the price. Everything you’ll ever need for a P38.

Icarsoft works well with 2003+ RRs. It does state later petrol P38s but not sure it will do much considering Gems/Thor are quite specific

So although the icarsoft says it is suitable for "Range Rover P38 2001 onwards Petrol only" & "Range Rover 1999-2013" really it is not worth buying & the Nanocom is the only one worth having ?
I was considering buying a diagnostic scanner before I have even bought the vehicle.
If the sellers would let me I would then check for fault codes when viewing.

Nanocom is the way to go for the P38.

Me and a pal have Icarsoft 2 works brill on his 2010 RR sport and other newer RR's, very limited on a P38. Tried on mine shows engine, SRS and ABS only

I wouldn't. OBD2 will probably talk to thor engine although not tried. EAS unlock suite is free and just needs a cable. That will sort most issues and if there are other issues you can invest if you keep it.
