i always wanted an Audi TT = are the older ones any good still?
They are quite cheap to buy now :)

Fantastic little car mines the 225 hp one, done 93k from new, still drives tight and before you all say it not like my Harris !
As you say cheap now but they've started to climb now if good at least 2k but thats cheap for a Porsche scarer .

I got my '97 4.6 HSE at the start of the year, it has 100,000 miles. Heater O-rings fail-wetting the right-hand side of the transmission tunnel carpet. Makes the inside steam up, too. Cheap O-rings but hours to get at them.
Air suspension units are relatively cheap to fix (easier than conventional coils). I get 15--ish mpg (drops to 6 on short run!)
DON't disconnect battery unless you need to. You'll get loads of beeps to reset the Windows, sunroof etc.
You'll hear the pump replenishing the brake accumulator cycling about every 4-7 pedal depressions-annoying but ok.
The lower tailgate bottoms suffer from corrosion of the aluminium skin.
You should get two keys. Check on the back to see what number they are-you can get keys 1-4. 1&2 can automatically recall the mirror/seat memory settings. You can't pair two of the same number keys simultaneously (I have two Key 4s, that's how I found out....) replacements are hideously pricey.
Heater blend motors control distribution and temp of the heating/AC-are suspect. You can check and renew when you dismantle the dash to do the O-rings...
Door mirror auto-dip functions sometimes don't.
Check any sunroof works before you buy-no use finding out it sticks open once you've gone home.
Heated seats suffer broken elements.

That's what I've found out so far.
Keep up on here as there's some seriously well-informed folks here.

Many thanks for your input, yes it's got two keys, I've never had all the luxury items on any car so not really bothered if things like dipping mirrors etc don't work.
I will only do about 1k a year so not bothered re mpg ( I've had a few yanks ) if the blend motors go can you still blow hot air on screen ?
As long as it's basically sound I intend to keep it for years and will improve/repair as I go along.
I'm at the age where insurance for me is cheap ( I pay £200 for the TT ) but I guess it may be a tad higher.
Yes will keep in touch, I've had some sound advice re my gaylander so once again I thank everyone.
If any member knows of a really good example in the south who will take a px please let me know.

Btw as yours is similar to the one I'm looking at could I be cheeky and ask how much you paid ?

You'e got to be f*cking kidding? We're all bonkers addicts. We'd use ours kid's dinner money to keep the bus on the road. It is our life's work ... apart from @tomcat59alan. He's sitting on a lawn ornament looking for a mug, sorry opportunist to take his problems away.

Hi all, greetings from the other side
( freelander owner ) I'm thinking of upgrading to a p38 and wondered what to look for in a 98 V8 and what kind of money do they achieve ?
I've seen a nice clean example with just over 100 k advertised for £2600
From a dealer so guess it's slightly inflated.
Any tips on rough value and faults to look for would be much appreciated.
Thanks guy's.
anychance its green cream leather an 4.6

Thanks can't see the price though looks a bit scabby to me. Look at the one I'm going for £2650 blue in burwash ( near me )
