Saw one from 2008 was that it? Thought there may be an updated unit since?
There was a post only a few weeks ago with pictures of the 3 RF units...original, interim and current....damned if I can find it though...

Hey Guys,

Is this the latest RF by any chance?? Have bought a tester to check the power to the RF but am unsure of where to put the red probe? again!

hi chas this is the series 3 ,so no need to change just put a tester on it with ignition switched on to show live feed ..also check all fuses under bonnett and side of drivers seat .cheerrs mozz:):)

Jolly decent of him to buy three units and strip them to show us the difference. What a guy. :D:D:D

So tested power to the rf....all good, noticed that the car does not self lock if left unlocked, is this normal or should it eventually super lock it's self?

Given that there's power to the rf and full power in the car battery, I can only assume it is a sync issue some where between the becm and rf etc. Interestingly I replaced the 20a fuses for the rear of the car (including the one that blew originally) with new led fuses from two separate packs, none of which light up. Would be worried about loss of power or damage to a secton of the becm but the courtesy lights working along with the tail gate, power to the rf, speakers and sub and the usual light sparking when putting the new fuses in tells me power is no problem! I guess relays within the becm are another issue though?

Getting local Landy indp to come around tomorrow with his hawkeye so will hopefully know more then.

Think it will only self lock IF unlocked with Fob and you don't open a door. Not opening a door within a period of time activates this. Don't know that it does that with the key, try it. Unlock car but don't open a door. See what happens.

The Car will only relock if it was unlocked on the fob and no doors or tail agte were opened within 60 seconds

Quick recap needed I think:

So,

LEDs working on Key Fob - Yes
Car Locking/Unlocking when buttons pressed - No
Car Locking/Unlocking with Key in door - ????
Engine Turning over - ????
Engine Starting - No
New style RF Unit - Yes
RF Unit Working - ????
Power to RF - Yes

Have you tried holding the fob against the Rear Quarter Window next to the RF Unit and pressing the Buttons??

My next check would be to swap out the RF Unit with a known good one to rule that out,
A 'Live Data' check of the Door Lock Microswitches to ensure correct function
A Re-Sync of BeCM to Engine ECU

What's concerning me now is what was causing the original problem of the key fob not communicating with the rf if the one I have is the latest version??

Both fobs are defo working as is the rf supposedly, so why wouldnt the signal be picked up by the rf and sent to the becm and work unless;

1. The sync between the becm and rf drops
2. The sync between the becm and ems drops
3. The rolling code is somehow loosing sync with the fobs

The fact that the keys won't resync in the ignition or by eak code is perhaps also an indicator to what's could be wrong pointing more towards a becm issue I guess.

agreed!!

Both fobs are defo working as is the rf supposedly, so why wouldnt the signal be picked up by the rf and sent to the becm and work unless;

1. The sync between the becm and rf drops No Such thing, could be a chaffed wire
2. The sync between the becm and ems drops Could be, but we need to get either the Fobs Working first or be able to enter the EKA Code (Door Lock Microswitch iffy I think)
3. The rolling code is somehow loosing sync with the fobs This is why we need to re-sync the Fobs to the BeCM which is done either by placing the Key in the ignition and turning the ignition on (99 onwards and needs a working RF unit) or performing a Door Lock turn and a Fob press (RF Unit needs to be functioning - 95-99 years) The Re-Sync wont take if the BeCM is in an Alarmed state...

The fact that the keys won't resync in the ignition or by eak code is perhaps also an indicator to what's could be wrong pointing more towards a becm issue I guess.
.

From you comment above of 'Only works in Drivers Door Lock' indicates the Door Microswitch is Duff and won't transmit the unlock signal to the BeCM to unlock the other doors AND crucially won't transmit the EKA Code to the BeCM to take it out of an Alarmed state....

The Fob resync won't work if the BeCM is locked out due to Alarmed state...this needs to be resolved first - Diagnostics should reset it to a point were it will accept the Fob Resync....

You will then need to change the Door Lock Mechanism....

After the BeCM is unlocked and the fobs resynced - perform a BeCM toe Engine ECU resync and fingers crossed the car will start - But you will need to change the Drivers Door Lock Mech.
