Hi All, This is my first thread. I hoped I would never have to ask for HELP!

I've committed the immortal sin and let my 2000 P38 H&H sit up the drive for a month, knowing the key won't fit the door lock! Yes, I've kicked myself around the block a couple of time already! I've got the new lock sitting on the back seat, still in its jiffy bag, 'waiting' to be fitted one day! Obviously the battery has gone flat! I've managed to recharge the battery, via the lead to the starter, hoping there might have been enough left in it to remember the remote code but alas there wasn't! I've got the dreaded keycode lockout!

Has anyone managed to 'break' in to one? Is it worth trying a chisel in the lock to try and force it round? Is it possible to 'cut' the handle off and get to the unlocking rod? If I could get a 'coat hanger' to the interior sill button and lift it, would it unlock the door? It wasn't deadlocked when I left it.

Any help or thoughts appreciated!

That's a fair pickle you have. I don't see why if it's not deadlocked the coat hanger trick should work. You don't have a lot of options and I'd certainly try the coat hanger first. With the best will in the world cutting off the door handle is likely to cause door damage and may well not get you into the car.

If it were my car and the hanger didn't work then to avoid damaging the door or window I'd bite the bullet and get an auto locksmith to get into the car. Might be cheaper in the long run.

Good luck.

Try doing the coathanger on the passenger door as the linkage is lighter ie it does not have the key lock link but the lock does have a cdl switch so it will open all

Success, I'm in!
Thanks for the replies, I'd been pondering over this problem since Christmas!
I managed to get the top trim off the door skin (the bit that stops water running down the glass into the door) allowing me to see down the door to the lock, with the help of a small wedge. I tried a screwdriver in the barrel and was surprised to find that with a lot of pressure the barrel will turn 180 and reset itself, again and again! Clever bit of kit but of no help to me!
I then spent 20 mins cutting the plastic off the handle to reveal the metalwork underneath. The next step was going to be masking tape to protect the paintwork and an angle grinder to cut through the handle and the securing bolt! After a brew and another look at RAVE, I tried accessing the locking lever, on the lock itself, with a long thin threaded bar with a nut on the end. It took a lot of patience but in the end success! I pressed down hard on the lever and the sill button came up! Once in the car I opened the bonnet and connected a booster pack, I put the key in the ignition barrel and the other doors unlocked. I tried to start it expecting an 'engine disabled' message but to my delight it started!
Now I'm back to the original misfire problem which was why I parked her up in the first place!!!
ps the new door handle (being fitted today), complete with the lock to suit the VIN, was only about £60! Quite reasonable I thought compared to the £150 for the spare key!
