Hi all

Last week my key fob has been stubborn and sometimes taken a while to "click"

I replaced batteries which I couldn't guarantee so I replaced them again tonight with energizer.

Ironically the guy behind the counter googled a sync which

turn key to position 1 leave 5 secs then switch off

turn back to position 1 hold for 3 secs then press lock 3 times (in position 1)

then press both butttons together

Low and behold it clicked but soon as I got home no joy in the unlocking with the fob

Any advice ? I dont have a key code and have had to fit a different lock from another car in the door as I didnt have any door lock when I got the car!

It starts when I can sync the damn thing but the fob is becoming harder to read and taking an age to read the signal sent

Cheers Christian

BTW my god these cars are special since all fixed its been fantastic to drive and all working except the key fob

I believe there are people who can clone the key for a lot less than buying a new one from the Stealers. Of course, you cannot use both cloned keys or you're back to synching every time.

Hopefully someone on here might know a fix! MrSporty, perhaps? He seems to do keys.

This ignition sync really appears to work.

I havent had an issue with keys before but am reading a window not set or sun roof not set light when opened so I wondered if it may need the electrics checked.

But the batteries in the key are brand new now

window and sunroof not set becaues the battery has been dixconnected and to srt them open them fully and close them and hold the button until the message center says they are set

Has the battery been off? If not, how old is it because you should only get those messages if the battery has been off. Nights are getting colder so may just be a weak battery?

Battery was recently replaced I think summer i put a heavy duty bosh which was new the message centre suggestion maybe be right.

What kind of condition is the key in ? .. Is the battery cover all chewed up (most are!) and do the buttons cause the red LED to light consistently every time ?

The most popular sync methods I know of are the door lock method on early models and active sync on the later models which should require no user interaction other than starting the vehicle.
