Have seen Range Rover Kits

kit,and although i appreciate everyone has different opinions on it and if financially its worth it.... Ive always been very tempted though!!!! One day maybe!!!

But.....

Have been watching this on Ebay.
Range Rover p38(95-01)bodykit/conversion to 07 sport on eBay Range Rover, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles

Looks like could be interesting!!! How much size difference is there between a Sport and a P38 thou? As the P38 and L322 are the same wheel base..
Through searching,,Looks like a similar 06' P38 to Sport kit (again from Ireland) sold for £1290 recently!

I have seen these on Ebay and other places too, i’m not knocking it but.....that’s a lot of serous work to undertake, and its not just fit and forget either, you’ll have to cut bits out of your front, and possibly the back too to fit the kit, you’ll have to spray the kit, and then it will look better than the rest of your body, so your gona have to spray that too, and get the extra stuff they don’t supply you with, there are 1 or 2 places out there that will do it all for you
have a look at this its interesting Range Rover Body Kits and Upgrade Kit, Wheel, Modifications, Accessories etc

i think done correctly its a good kit......but not for me i like the P38a and the way it looks, that’s why i got one, i nearly bought a new Voge, (Nearly lol) a P38a is so different from any other car, the L322 is a copy of the P38, like the S3 is a copy of the SII, i prefer the original not a copy

I recently bought these for £26 off ebay, I am intending to fit them after the left side of my car has been repaired.

Should look well!!
There is a guy selling a template of the hole required and already lined up etc... Is only about a £6, ..Obviously ya gonna check it 100 times first, but maybe worth the £6 as a second opinion before you hack into your body work??
You gonna attempt the grill too? Would look well, but guessing it will be a mission!!!

the L322 is a copy of the P38

No it's not!!! Not one component from the P38 has been carried over to the L322, its a totally different car all together, better built and believe it or not, more reliable.

They've kept the same basic shape so it still looks like a range rover "should" and people will recognise it as a range rover.

Don't get me wrong, p38 is a nice car but compared to todays technology, its in the dark ages. Things move on, and they have to to keep up with the competition, regulations etc.

If thats what you think, is the p38 not a copy of the classic? Classic is the original range rover isn't it?

yes and no, all depends really, some things land rover do are for the better and some are not.

Couple of examples..........

Take the range rover BECM, massive box that takes up a huge amount of space and goes wrong. Very expensive to fix. L322 BECM or BCU as its now called is the size of a household box of matches, only has 3 connections, does the same job as the old BECM and is more reliable, No EKA codes and lock out problems.

P38 front diff......Totally fine, rarely goes wrong. L322 front diff..... goes after 25,000 miles cos they didn't see the need for a UJ on the propshaft. Propshafts have been around for years, tried and trusted but LR have to change it's design.

Thanks for the info I have ordered a copy of the CD (£12) which as you say could make the job of hacking into the wings a little bit less nerve wrecking:eek:, for the grill I have a cunning plan, the most cunning of cunning plans, If it works I will post pics and instructions of the complete job.

I would just put one on each side, you might find if difficult to find places to fix 10 on, but it would look different:rolleyes:

How cunnings this cunning plan of yours?
Seriously thou, have you offered it up? Is it miles away?
Im very tempted to have a go,as modding the new grille wouldnt worry me.Guessing its alot deeper (bonnet to bumper)?

Nice to see new P38 conversion kits. The Sport kit does look nice but I have to say I wouldn't buy one myself as we all know that the sport is smaller than the full L322 RR and if you parked or pulled up against one, you'd see the difference straight away.

Range Over says they are going to make the L322 Super Charge versions of the kits available. That may sway me to buy that instead.

My idea is to respray my P38 in LR metallic orange and black and put the kit on it.

I am going to see how far away it is tomorrow (offering it up) I will take it pic of the size difference, but this depends on the weather.

Does this company have a website rather than just an eBay listing something like Range Over's?

I think if they have one they might get more business....I'm always wary of eBay selling potentially one off's etc...

So what are all the options out there.
Range over
Simmonites
sport lights and grille on the red p38 - sorry forgotten the company
anyone else do kits?

I think your talking about Rogersons? There seems to be very few proper GRP kits out there at the moment but that will all change when people realise that there is a market for them.

I'm considering buying the whole kit from Range Over as I prefer the new L322 look and cant afford a 2004 model at the moment.

When I spoke to Range Over, he mentioned that other RR upgrades would be available later on....including as I mentioned earlier RR Sport kits and the Super Charge bits.

RangeOver were going to use my P38 as the first one, but they wanted the car 2 months and charge me £6000 then when i asked how much it was going to be, they told me £8000, so they gave me £2000 discount, oh yeh, this was in January 07, they are concentrating on the sport at the moment, they get all the parts from my local dealer, which i sorted out for them also, but still charged me a lump for a headlamp repair, it kept going up every week, try Rogersons Nr Preston, they do the r/r supercharged front end and is like a factory job, NOT like some!!!!!!

Shame to hear that, I have a good independent RR garage near me ( Dakar Cars ), which can perform body work etc. I may buy the kit and ask them.
