Mine was running cool too and I suspected a 'cover up' during purchase but I still brought it, too much in love I think.:D.
Turned out a stat was in place just failed open. I got a facet one because it was a brand I knew and it had the bypass hole in it.

If it's not got the bypass in it I'll return it whilst I'm still there. I guess I'll test it in boiling water prior to fitting, otherwise what else can you do!

Always test before fitting, there seem to be loads of duff stats about.

The only one I could get hold of years ago didn't have the vent so I drilling a 3mm hole in it and made sure it was at the 12 o'clock position when refitting, it's still in there and working to date and yes to testing..
 
I forgot to mention the EGR valve, it may well be sticking. Clean it up and remove the vacuum pipe from the actuator to stop it operating. The pipe can be put back if necessary for the MOT.

You’ll be pleased to know it seems to of already had a EGR delete. Quite a nice one too by the look of it.

Waste of money, all that is needed is to remove the vacuum pipe from the actuator, at least it was not your cash wasted. Not sure in the UK but removing the EGR is actually illegal over here so the pipe is put back on for the MOT.

UK it's technically illegal but they can't remove covers to check. Most independent local garages couldn't care less unless it's blatantly obvious and done poorly. Yes as you say probably not needed to buy the part. But nice It's on and I didn't have too
 
Oil, Oil Filter and Fuel Filter done quickly on my lunch. Didn't get round to doing a lift pump test but I will be at the weekend.

Also ordered two rear bags. On closer inspection fronts look in very good fettle. Rears are sh*gged

In my hurry of ordering I mistakenly ordered the older style oil filter. No problem though as I realised prior to leaving euros and even better they had the correct one on discount for £1.20!

Just a quick one, cracked the banjo to bleed after swapping the filter. Just snuggling it up should be fine as it's on the low pressure side I'm guessing?

Yes. Whatever you do don't overtighten. Gently Bently does it.

Mine didn't need bleeding and I even forgot to fill the new filter.
Just cycled the ignition until no more bubbles in the clear line then fired it up.

Best to fill the fuel filter when fitting.

Local Landy garage had a set of rear bags off a customers car who switched to coils. Decent enough condition and will leak test at work over the weekend on the press so they aren’t unrestricted. Can’t beat a freebie even if they only last a year or two

Might be in my head but I definitely feel a difference since switching fuel filter

For those who don't know the photo is of a thermostat not a water pump.:D:D:D;):oops: see your using the correct thermostat holding scissors.
 
What do we all think about the doors locking and unlocking randomly when still and driving? Door latch actuator possibly?

Yes, the earth is through the centre microswitch. Or could be the rod for the sill button is bent or catching on something. The boot button grounds through the same switch so might be worth taking that out and checking for water damage too.
 
Interestingly door latch replaced in 2014, roughly 6-5k miles ago. Unfortunately I don’t think this makes it any less likely to be acting up now

Good news is the waterpump was replaced 7k miles ago. Bad news is that’s 9 years ago.

Other history found is it had a new transfer box in the same service.

Even better a ABS pump within the last 10k miles too.

the service history is really complete
