1999 p38 range rover 4.0 gem engine starts ok but when engine is warm idle speed drops low and does not accelerate cleanly feels like engine is missing have put new plugs in and new leads could be something blocked? there is some white gunge when i take the oil filler cap off. Any ideas anybody .Thanks

Introduce yourself.
Bad running. Put on diagnostics.
**** in rocker cover blocked breathers. Short journeys.

Rather than chuck parts at it. get a compression test done. If that's okay then persevere with diagnosing the fuel/ignition system. A perfectly serviceable compression tester can be bought from Machine Mart for about £22.

Had a new engine in 14 months ago think the problem could be blocked breather on drivers side (which i have know found thanks to another thread) thanks for all your advice.

Short journeys will also cause mayo build up were engine never gets properly up to temp for long enough to disperse condensation drawn in as it cools in moist conditions. It's not a clear sign that head gasket is leaking as many think. Good luck.
