Seen a nice Rover P5

Back at it tomorrow. While working for the last few days I’ve managed to revisit mi air fed mask set up. Couldn’t get on with the motorbike helmet so I repurposed a full face mask and stuck a tube up it’s nightdress,
It won’t need filters as the little compressor that’ll run it will be housed next door so no nasties near it. Can’t wait to splurge two pack etch primer all over it. I can’t see how the bought ones are over £400. There’s nowt to em.
Three quid belt with a five quid tape measure hanger on it. A seven quid pressure valve with a yard of pipe and a few fittings. It’s only cost just over twenty quid to blow my brains out of my ears.

You should sell them with a free bottle of NOS

Looks like an old BA face mask.

Very cheap Chinese filtered mask originally. It never worked with a beard obviously so I’ve sealed the filter sockets and opened up the air fed bung at the front. Just a case of keeping a tad of positive pressure in the gob bit and all should be well.

Competition time.

So what do you think I bought this for?

And no, it’s not for towels. I priced up the ally bits to make something and it would have cost stupid money and daft machining, one of these was a tenner.

If you guessed ‘oh god not another load of dickinabout’ CORRECT. I can’t help myself 😳

I came across one of those enamelled tin lamp shades while out and about and couldn’t bypass the want for it over the door. Obviously it couldn’t hang there while mobile so I devised a cunning plan to mount it on an arm that folded flat ‘ish’ against the body when being pulled about.
Needed a swan neck and a hinge. The towel rail looked perfect. I had a defender reversing light and a pull switch for a chain. I test fitted it today just with one bolt for a photo so it’s very wonky but looks like it’s going to work.

Also passing through the design department were the adjustable vents for the spinny round roof extractor thingies. We couldn’t have white plastic could we 🙄 so we went for old knackered brassy bronze with a touch of copper 🤔

Aged obviously.

Everything else is a bit boring at the moment. Applying epoxy, rubbing down, filling, rubbing down adifinitumenum.
I’ll get some photos up when the painting begins. If I ever get this kevlar sunk.

One thing. Are the spiny roundy thingies (low profile) ment to spin in the breeze or only when tunnin it down t’bypass. 🙄
Test fitted one today and it just sat there. I feel a little cheated.

Also glued on my home made solar cable gland box. Along with more filling and undercoating and rubbin down.

The original idea was to rout out the roof panel and sit the flange in it but with the cables and foaming glue and everything else springing out of the center I wouldn’t have got my router close enough.
The strobe light on top is wired to the alarm. 😉

Oh and I turned a couple of brass connectors with grub screws to attach the solar panel to the main. Once shrink wrapped they will push through the glands out of sight. I’m not keen on those plastic solar cable connectors. Too big and always look untidy flapping around on an RV roof.

Well, that’s two coats of epoxy, a covering with kevlar, two more coats of epoxy on top followed by a coat of two pack etch and today a coat of enamel undercoat.
Going to nip over it pinholing as there are a few then a coat of 50/50 undercoat and top coat. That should leave me with a coat of gloss enamel to finish the roof.
I can get the ruddy vents fitted then along with the solar panel. With any luck that’ll be the roof out of the way and I can start the easy bit.

I wish 🙄

Ran out of gas today for my generator just as I was going to start spraying the penultimate coat on the roof. Completely spat my dummy out and rolled the sod with pure top coat. 😡
