I have seen a yellow one they are disgusting. Yellow does suit a classic though @Buttercup 
Classic is sturdy even more than defender and similar to drive. Now or never as they are getting rarer and more expensive.
P38 - don't underestimate this one on or off road in any guise. Classic with comforts - H frame chassis with easily fixable technology 30yrs ahead of it's time
L322 if you want to drive around with spinny wheels like a drug dealer, on the one day you manage to stop the warning messages. Laptop at the ready...

Take your time and choose carefully and you won't be disappointed. Number of flavours petrol and diesel all good engines

Just have a scout about and see what you like first, test drives is best so you can see for yourself. Then set a budget you more than likely don't want a 60 grand mint suffix

Bags of character & style, as fixable as a LR (esp. the 3.5) but play safe & stick to the fuel it was designed to run on. Be prepared to search for a good one & pay the price.
If you really must have diesel power buy a LR, don't adulterate a Classic with one

That would be my suggestion.
You'll effectively have the same fuel costs as the tractor versions but more refined in my opinion.

You'll dodge the welding jobs but be ready for a HG change. And you'll probably need a Nanocom so £500 there.

Before you decide on LPG do a search on here & balance the pro's/cons.
IF you suffer a liner problem it will wipe out every fuel saving you've made & then some.

What's lpg got to do with a liner slip?
Some think it makes the liner more likely to go but I don't think there is anything other than hunches. The liners seem to either let go or they don't. I think they changed something on the blocks around 1998 but damned if I can remember what it was.

blocks crack behind the liner, a % of the block were on the edge ie cylinder wall thickness, it only takes extra heat from lpg to cause an issue, though not all blocks were on the edge, some failed from new others when cooling system was past best or lpg fitted,some never failed
