but you can't use discool's schedule his is a V8 petrol yours is a diesel they will be loads different

How do you know what the engine is.

Its a general LR service schedule PDF all the fluids are the same all checks and inspections are the same etc.etc. so not "loads different". :p

third column from the left is the one you want
basically 6000 miles OR 6 months whichever comes first
but also pay attention to the last paragraph on the left hand page ;)

s'ok... i understand the image you have uploaded... it just leaves me even more confused about what a service is supposed to contain and whether I can do it myself or not! lol

No offence meant, of course... just lots of different opinions still... (i'm browsing other forums and the web generally at the moment too and getting nowhere!).

You have the Haynes manual, have a look at chapter 1, its a pretty comprehensive guide. It will show you what needs doing, and how often. There's more than just a "main" and "interim" service, because some items (coolant, brake fluid, cambelt, etc) don't need changing that often. I'd type it out but you already have the manual....

It's not confusing at all, it just shows (as a guide) that a RRCs and D1s other than the MPI are serviced every 6000mls or 6 months under normal use.

ok... so it's decided. i'll do oil change & oil filter every 6,000 miles and follow everything else from the Haynes manual! :)

If I can do it myself I will, otherwise i'll book it in.

I'd have finished that sentence with the word "Simples!", but I hate that damn hamster.

Thanks, guys! :D

Its a meerkat, not a hamster. But everything else seems okay with the approach. Personally I don't blame you - I thought it was an otter.

I know it's a meerkat... i was trying to be deregatory :D

hamsters are worth less than meerkats, aren't they? they're smaller, anyway.......

As said before you cant change the oil too often.
If using quality oil then less frequent say once a month but if crap oil then leave the sump plug out and keep pouring it in at the top, your engine will be good for a million miles:D
