The Halfords Professional range is actually just re-branded Britool.

Excellent quality gear, and it's what I've used for a few years now. 99% of the stuff on the shelf is also ALOT cheaper if you have a trade card too.

I also get Sealey tools through trade at work, which works out nice to fill in all the little gaps that Halfrauds don't do.
i happily stand corrected ,i dont use air tools much but as hand tools halfords have been great. i have a small selection of aincient britool spanners and a breaking bar thats older than me and never fails to crack whatever i want its got just the right amount of spring in the bar .i would gladly buy britool but dont see the for sale much in a domestic shop.

Halfords Pro |Rules!!!! but Draper are pretty good too! You needsboth hex and bi hex! And then you need AF ( which are a bitch to buy) just in case!

They're a damn site better than their basic set, which would crumble if you tried to undo a valve cap with it.

Thats what I have .My dads halford set doesn't feel half the quality but I'm not sure if his is the pro set.

you would be better off just getting 3/8 snap on impact deep sockets in size you need if your going to do alot of work on your vehicle 8mm,10mm,13mm,14mm,15mm,17mm,19mm, snap on ,21mm,22mm,24mm, 30mm cheaper socket ,smaller sockets especially benefit been as good as possible

wide open, not saying there not usable just not professional quality

I'm sorry but i's disagree with you on that one.

There's some debate as to who makes them for halfords, most probably it's one of snap on's generic factories in the far east, the gear wrench and draper stuff is identical but with different branded packaging. It's well finished and the quality is good enough for professional use.

It also has a lifetime guarantee, take it back and they will replace it no problem, tell you what, try taking a broken socket or ratchet back to the snap on man if you're not a regular customer and see how you get on.

snap on stuff is good, but it's certainly no better than, say Beta, or King Dick, but with snap on you're paying extra for the built in finance package, even if you pay up front.

It's overpriced and over rated, certainly for someone doing some DIY repairs on their own truck, halfords pro is more than adequate.

I agree, as I posted earlier I use a lot of SnapOn gear at work but not at home. The mish mash of tools I've built up at home over the last 35 years includes gear from allsorts of people and the few bits of Halfords stuff I have are as good as anyone else's. I don't tend to abuse my tools it has to be said, I like to use the correct tool for the job for example I wouldn't try undoing the front pulley nut on a 300tdi with a 3/8 drive and then complain that I'd bust a £20 ratchet. I would use a 3/4 drive breaker bar.

.Snapon -It's overpriced and over rated.

Exactly!
What do yu mean be "Professional "?
If you mean that it is used by someone for their job , then I know lots of mechanics that use Halfrauds Pro. In fact, they are recomended by the local college.

I'd stick a scaffold pole on my 3/8 snap-on ratchet and if it broke I'd hand it back to my snap-on dealer and then get a new one in exchange. The problem with Halfors expert and the like is that you only have a warranty if you have the receipt. With snap-on you have a warranty even if you bought it at a car boot sale for 10p:p:p:p

well halfrauds tools take some abuse tho.I had a 4ft scaffold tube on a ring spanner to do the head bolts and not an issue.

Has anyone mentioned Kamsa ?
I have a kamsa set that has been fantastic so far 4 years on.

come on ,colleges are only playing at it, i never seen many decent mechanic/engineer use anything but snap or original britool before facome,or something equialent ,thats not halfords pro, most of the sockets in those sets are never used why not buy what you need in best quality you can get especially in the smaller sizes ,i wouldnt say all snap on tools are the best as knipex circlip pliers are superior to snap on,better quality sockets have less chance of slipping and rounding flange head nuts/bolts

That depends who yu see :). Mind yu - ratchets aren't covered.

There are lots of good tools out there now.Snap-on are good but so are halfrauds junk so why spend out when you can get just as good quality else where, afterall most stuff is now made in the same place anyway.
