really hope some one can help have had some problems with my range rover, firstly vehicle broke down eventually traced fault to fuel pump intermittent it would start but after a few mins once warmed up would stop running, got it booked in to take down to get fuel pump replaced, came to car battery totally dead recharged battery attempted to turn engine over vehicle wll no longer start, gone into immobilised state have tried eka code wouldnt work phoned a local 4x4 specialist told me if we could get it to him he would have a look we tried fitting a 5amp fuse into no 11 on fuse box underseat but the car will not go into electronic neutral have had a person from rac have a look at the car he plugged his diagnostic kit in but could not get it to connect to becm but connected to other things,he thinks the becm may be faulty as well any help really appreciated

First thing is to get your battery sorted with a new one. This will at least give some power to the vehicle and it's electronics. You really need a P38 / LR specialist rather than a "4x4" specialist to diagnose these properly.

Hi by the way, I'm aerofabrique, nice to meet you er..... and i see you drive a er......... and you fill it up with er.........and you live near er...........so I know no one that could help you.

new battery has been fitted have heard of an item called a syncmate but not sure if it will cure problem as it dont explain why fitting fuse 11 doesnt put vehicle into transfer neutral which makes me think the becm has gone faulty

Mate I think what Aerofab was hinting at is if you put some more info in yer profile such as diesel or petrol, area you live, etc, some peeps on here may be able to help out better :)

And some punctuation please, I ran out of breath reading that lot. Bit like you're on speed or something too, like you gotta get it all into one sentance really really quick........

Transfer neutral involves the high/low transfer box motor to work, it'll essentially stop mid-way thus placing the transfer box in neutral. For this to happen, the motor has to work. Do you know that you could select low range prior to the breakdown?

hi sorry about that,my name is jon i live in rugeley and the offending vehicle is a 4.6 petrol automatic registered sept 1996, prior to fuel pump packing up it worked fine, it was left standing for a couple of weeks and when we came to move vehicle the bttery was dead, sourced a new battery fitted it and attempted to start engine which is when i found it wouldnt start obtained the eka code from landrover tried putting in didnt want to know, spoke to ashley 4x4 in stafford told me if we could get it to him he would have a look, fitted the 5amp fuse into no11 turned ignition on the car wouldnt go into transfer neutral, my friends brother in law works for the rac so plugged his diagnostic kit into it but couldnt get it to connect to the becm,he also confirmed about the fuse 11 so is under same impression that the becm has possibly gone down,i have read about the becm going out of sync, but would of thought that fitting a fuse in 11 would still work enabling me to get the car took in, would i still be able to tow with car in neutral on the selector.

would i still be able to tow with car in neutral on the selector.
For a short distance and keep below 30mph. With the transfer box not in neutral the road wheels will be turning the main gearbox internals, as the engine isn't running so the gearbox oil pump isn't running. Think you can guess what this'll mean if you do this for too long.

No read the fecking handbook and use fuse to select neutral

OP can't, insert fuse, nothing happens. Most other automatic cars can be towed, usually subject to the not over 30mph and for short distance only rule. Not sure 5 miles is with the short distance rule though. Other comments anyone?

Have you tried a door lock resync? Procedure in hand book with turning the lock and holding the buttons? Keyfob batteries good?

Worst case then is possible the BECM has lost sync and in which case you will need syncmate or similar. LR indies or fellow poster nearby might be able to help out.

Garage tried to jump start it and has fecked the electronics would be my guess. For fuse 11 to work it's needs sufficient battery power to turn the motor and for the motor to be in working order. The only safe way to move it without fecking the box is to trailer it, or you could get underneath it and check the transfer shift motor and move it manually if necessary.

hi the doors will lock and unlock from keyfob and will alarm it but when i put key in and turn nothing happening rac man proved starter ok

You need to get the car plugged in and resynced. Worthwhile doing at an indie so you can get any faultcodes read under the same hourly charge

dose your keyfob lock the doors if not shut all the doors tailgate and bonnet lock the drivers door with the key and unlock it with the key then lock it with the keyfob und unlock it again with the keyfob then put the key in the ignition and see if it will start thats how i got mine to start after a flat battery if an engine disabled message comes up on the message centre turn the key unill the ignition lights come on and press the unlock or the lock button cant remember which one then turn the key it should start

Low battery voltage would prevent TestBook for instance from communication with the BECM. Sound like a re-synk needed. Join AA and get car recovered to your garage and get them to change the fuel pump if that needs changing and go from there. If you get diagnostics on it the engine faults should be helpful?

ive ordered a bbs resync unit, hopefully that will cure the non starting problem if it stays dry will change the pump myself if not will get garage to do ,
