good morning everyone, not such a good morning for my Td5 Defender.

my starter runs but engine doesn't turn over. I've noticed there is some oil on the red connector of the ECM, it ran fine until yesterday evening though.

there is a strong buzzing coming from the fusebox, its done this before and was solved when I fixed the earth cable under the chassis which was strongly deteriorated.
the buzzing now is the same as last time but the earth wire under the chassis is still perfect..

I'm hoping its another stupid earth cable that has deteriorated but I'm a bit worried since I'm (obviously when this stuff happens) 1000km+ away from home currently.
computer damage would be more of a hassle and is what worries me... but yeah... Murphy's law

im gonna dive under the car now and search for clues as it finally stopped raining. will send updates here.

ps it all started yesterday evening with a very dim blinking of the abs light, I had a feeling it was a bad omen.

cheers guys
have a great day

thanks for the tips guys, I'm halfway through cleaning all the earths, even though some are quite dirty and rusty and muddy, still no difference.

might burn it and buy a cruiser
Should be some nice ones in Italy, no rust! :)

Simple things first.
Either remove & fully charge the battery with a battery charger or fit a known good fully charged battery. Be sure the lead terminal clamps are clean & tight.
Once you've done that if it still won't turn over then you know the issue is something else.

still progressing on the earths but no improvement(giving each one a thorough clean as I progress, when in Rome....)

battery is fresh so no worries there either. no blown fuses or stuff like that.

feels like a shame to burn her with a full tank of diesel

is there a detailed guide/diagram for the earth points? the diagram I found is so vague, that it isn't really helping me finding the culprit

cheers guys
