Erm...which headlight relay do you mean???

If you mean the flasher unit...thats working fine...

We had a landy that had the dip and main intermittently not working and the local garage said it was the relay and its been ok ever since, so im assuming they have a dip/main beam relay, but i could be very wrong :D

Well...after spraying everything in wd40 last night...one sidelight has re-appeared! So it appears i have some water somewhere.

I've got the light switch off and there's a small spark as i join the live to the sidelight wire (red) but no spark when i join the live to main beam wire (blue).

Still got no right front indicator...

Losing my sanity.

Frustrating as hell Storm - feeling for you

Nothing for it but to start at each lamp and work backwards, checking everything (bulbs, holders, connectors, cables, earths, fuses, switches)

If you have access to a 12v probe that can makelife a little easier - you can check cables at different points for voltage, check continuity and separately power up the lamps to check the holders.

I use one of these:

What a twot of a job...8 hours later I have sidelights working again and all indicators...so far so good...but still no joy at all with headlights. Cant think of what else to do...have gone through all connections, checked, oiled, replaced, repaired as necessary..changed all bulbs and fuses...arse, arse, arse...looks like its going to the auto-electrician tomorrow.

check the headlamp relay is working and that the contacts are clean. It's in the fusebox by yer gear stick. Also check the dim dip relay (looks like a mini heat sink/amplifier) behind the dash binacle.

Oooo Ratty may be on to something...i had the dash off to do the wiper motor.....behind the clocks somewhere is it?

Do you promise to hold back on the lube?:p

Your headlight relay should be ok as we replaced that last year.....unless its full of water like the last one.

Right...had dash off, nothing remotely like the pic you posted Ratty :confused: just loads of spagetti...

As for the relay, the one we changed was the flasher unit Si, thats fine too...if there's another relay behind the fuses it'll have to wait til tomorrow as there's a plate that i have to remove first to get to it..can only see the flasher unit to be honest.

Is there a multi-plug doing nothing? If so your dim dip relay has already been removed.

Nope...i've removed the stalk on the steering column and bypassed that to see if it was the stalk (wasn't)..and the wireing from that goes straight thru bulkhead and down the wing to headlight...the high beam works on 'flash' from the indicator stalk though, so bulbs ok...i was confused yesterday, but had some ideas to try, today i've hit a brick wall!

Heard it all now. Thought it was only ratty that had plates in his landy...usually wiv chip grease on them.

ive got that little heat sink thing dip relay but it aint connected on mine and mine work ok ,i presume someone has bypassed it before i had her,i only found it when my lights and indicators packed up which was eventually caused by one of a pair of silver relays buried right at bottom of dash under all the spaghetti on the rhs.dont know how helpful that is but you never know.
