Good evening.
this is my first post here, so bare with me if I sound deaf and dumb like.
After having recently bought a 2002 Vogue with 290K on the counter, previous owner having spent a decent fortune on the car, it has begun.
The usual problems with the transfercase, EAS and so on are being dealt with.
However after washing the car thoroughly I drove home listening to the radio, no problems.
6 hours later I started up for work, and hey presto; no audio.
having disassembled as much as I could today these are my current findings:
1: the Navigation DVD (YIB000190) was corroded beyond repair. according to previous owner it worked but lacked the dvd itself.
After unplugging the amp and cleaning it, I went back to the car and unlocked it, whereupon it suddenly spat out the dvd. first and only sign of life.
I removed it, opened it and the main PCB board was corroded beyond recognition on rearward side, underneath the ventilation holes.
2: the Amp (Lear xqk000030) was upon first inspection very much corroded on the forward left contactpoint (signal/power out I assume)
this was cleaned thoroughly and the amp was opened and within there was no sign of any parts letting go, no black marks, no corroded or otherwise broken solder.
all contactpoints cleaned and amp put back.
3:All fuses in glovebox was checked and found OK.
4:the headunit powers on, but no DSP on display, no navigation on display. It scans and finds radiostations, the CD changer whirrs, selects CDs and tracks.
5: I have disconnected battery and done a hard reset, no change.
6:the 10A microfuse in the DSP(?) was Ohmed, found OK but changed to a new fuse nonetheless.
7:all plugs in the rear left compartment was disconnected, cleaned and put back.
still no audio.
Having searched through several forums I have found several solutions, however most date back several years and parts are hard if not impossible to come by I.E. Headunit from other manufacturers.
I would like to retain all standard functions such as webasto heater, so that kind of excludes modernizing.
As per now I don't know which part to replace. refurbished amps, navigation module etc. are hideously expensive, and because I have the amp and DSP with subwoofer, a straightforward headunit modernization seems like a sub-par solution.
can anyone point me in the right direction, either finding the flawed part or suggesting a decent replacement for the system in general?
I have no use for navigation and most of the options within the standard headunit, except the webasto as the climate here is rather chilling (-30C) in the winter.
please ask if I left out some vital information.
