TD5 is common rail and full of electrickery so not the easiest to work on and expensive if you need to pay someone else.

2.5 n/a is a tractor and most folk wouldn't want to travel any distance but very simple for a diy mechanic

TDi's are somewhere inbetween.

All LR's need maintenance, partly because they're built to live a rugged life and have user serviceable parts......and partly because the build quality is ****e

ALL car's need regular maintenance, LR's just a bit more. I've had both jap 4x4's and now Landy's, and can honestly say my next purchase would be a Landy if my current Disco was done and dusted.

Go onto any car forum and you'll find the exact same thing's ... people slagging off their motor's when they break down but loving them when running ok. It's a mechanical machine at the end of the day that will need looking after to run properly....

Why? Because they are the best 4x4. You need to test drive one. What purpose do you want it for?

Last month I had to rebuilt the top of the engine. This week I had to buy new gearbox and transfer. Wonder what it will be next month.

In all honesty if you buy a GOOD (rare) one it will last a long time without breaking down.
I think most of the time mine is broken is caused from the abuse it gets off-roading. So if your only doing light greenlaning it sould be fine, you will only receive light body damage lol

As already said they are the best off-roading and come with there own personality that's why I love it!!
