rad should be hot all over if not its faulty

Think I have found the problem....sorry about the bad quality, seems the skim exposed a fault in the head and was causing exhaust gasses to escape into the cooling system

So I still have an issue.....changed the head with the new one,new composite gasket...but this is what im seeing external temperature gauge in head showing 100 degrees Celsius stock gauge at less than half(just under) using egt gauge to measure temp at head showing 81degrees Celsius....I don't know what to do here anymore. With system bled it would idle at 66 degrees Celsius for however long but as soon as I switch off and restart it'll raise the temp. The temp at tge radiator is fine till it gets to 95 degrees Celsius at the head then all the cores go cold.

cold ?does coolant level drop

Really cold...the coolant from the head is flowing back into the expansion tank, if I switch off and start the temp rises to 100degrees Celsius and radiator gets cold, however if I just crack the plug on the thermostat housing and allow the coolant to come back to the head the temp goes back to 68degrees celsius and will stay at that temp till I switch off and restart......havent taken it on the road yet for fear of overheating...all this is just idling strange thing is the stock temp gauge stays the same

dooes it seem like engine is still pressurising ,water pump ok

Same thing im thinking....the water pump should be good was recently changed, what could cause this....the problem with the old head was the low spot at the waterway...but this problem doesn't seem to want to go away...is there any way to check for over pressure?

Ah fanatic....my thought exactly...was changed about a year back the complete unit with the three hoses my mind just ran on that....only thing is how to check it?

it shouldn't be blocked and i wonder if your getting coolant circulation problems

ESR2348 Pump-expansion tank ejector, think the part number is superseded- James ?

so I blew into both ends of the hoses and into the expansion tank and it seems to flow well is their any other way to check it

Out of question did you use a good gasket ? Some of the poorer makes gaskets aren't worth touching with a ****ty stick on the V8 front no idea on the dervs though as I've never done a derv HG
