Hi All just bought a 99 DT, but have no central locking on the front doors. Speaking with the workshop chaps at Guy Salmon they said that changing the actuators alone would result in failure within a two weeks. They have had a lot of P38 Range Rovers in with this fault. The only permanent cure is two new outstations and two new actuators. Outstations cost £260 each and the actuators about £130. Bit rich for me so anyone tested an outstation or used a second hand one? Or have you cured this fault. Thanks Dean

dean all idone was change both actuators both secondhand that was a year ago still ok hope this helps.bernie:):):):):)

I think that sounds like complete main dealer bullsh*&t to me - you can buy used actuators and/or outstations on ebay or via breakers yards and fit them quite easily for a fraction of that price and no, you do not need to replace actuators if the outstation is faulty. Strip the door, clean up the lock, lubricate and reassemble - in many cases that gets it all working again. Worst case scenario replace a worn out part that you can't get working. Guy Salmon indeed. I doubt if they even remember what a P38 looks like, let alone know how to repair anything on it!!!!!

Download RAVE, buy a set of plastic door poppers for a pound or two (a few always break when you strip the door card)and do it yourself, unless you want to fund Guy Salmon's Xmas booze-up!!!!!
