Hi porky, our cars might be more similar than one would expect, mine has a mechanical injector pump, no EGR, but has got ABS (dammit) and SRS (dammit) and IF it has got an ecu it has not given me trouble yet and I don’t know where it is. It might have a DDS unit to disable the engine via the immobiliser I am not sure. A while back I had to put a new wire in to the fuel solenoid (from the fuse box) as the harness had a break somewhere. I also hid the fob and disconnected the siren to prevent any more alarm issues.
My manual makes no reference to the engine being cut due to the inertia sensor (as per prior post) but thats what happened, it just cut out as I was driving along. I do (years later) still have an occasional issue with it clicking and not starting but wobbling the auto gear lever usually sorts that out, maybe that has something to do with the cutting out.
Is the inertia reset done via the driver door or ignition lock, my feeling is ignition lock.
