It looks like a Mini Cooper has humped the Nissan cube. To be fair. It's better than I thought it would be. Are they keeping the defender name?

Looks awful, a bit like the Nissan Cube

I kinda like that too hahah

Not sure if the defender name is staying as it is called the dc100 looks like it's fitted with a winch and recovery points as standard too
Mabie a hint at its true capabilities

I saw this posted on Land Rover Owners group on Facebook today and it linked to an article with that picture. The link claimed to be new, however the article was dated 2011.

I am interested to see what they release. I've got a 110 now so if the new thing is rubbish i can just keep the 110 running forever, but, if they release something which is actually good i'll have no problems swapping the 110 for a new thing... I'm on one of the Land Rover Experience days in a few weeks so hoping to grill the landy guy then for a bit of info :D

The experience guys know feck all about whats coming,

You want to be there when they are running tests at either Eastnor or solihull

The techs know alot about whats coming,

Best the experience guys can tell you is whats coming next year in the current lineup

OK, so if it's not going to look like that, what is it going to look like? They're running out of time to come up with something. Plus the DC100 pictures that dribble out are starting to look more like actual cars rather than computer simulations. So what's it to be?

Give me something with the aerodynamics of a house, big chunky tires, and massive customability, and something which you can still fix on your drive with basic tools and I'd be happy,

Sadly however, I dont think thats a reality anymore

That's a good point and I feel not quite as stupid now  I had heard that the defender was getting cut from the landrover range due to EU emissions regs then see that and got quite excited

Yes I'd be very surprised if the Defender as we know it continued beyond what's currently understood to be its end date. What with passenger and pedestrian safety concerns, emissions standards and the like they're not going to be allowed to sell it in many parts of the world. So there's going to be some sort of new SUV to fill the gap in the range.

DC100 is not the Defender replacement, that was confirmed some months ago. No one knows yet outside of LR what it will be.

Like everyone I'd rather it just stay as it is.

But to accept it, PLEASE give it solid axles. PLEASE

On another note a removable hard top would be pretty cool :D

It ain't gonna happen. The DC100 is old news and its a pile of **** at that. The defender will be scrapped and its bugger all to do with eu regs on emissions, it's because it's very costly to hand build and no one is buying them
