The good old days are over almost, I think whatever LR replace the Defender with, it won't have the same character as ours and to alot of us won't be a defender.

Round off the corners!? Curves!?? Are you sure its a defender you want and not a porsche?

Haha - nah all I'd really want is my 300tdi tbh (well and a 101 f/c, a lightweight, a 110 pickup kitted out for offroading & maybe either a twisted or a kahn 90 for posing in...)

Yeah curves! Theres not many but at least the top of the windscreen, the front of the wings and the steering wheel should have curves!!! :D

And some of us think that Defender is a bit of a silly name, it should be Series 4 or 5 or whatever. Although to be honest I still haven't got used to these new fangled coil springs yet.

I don't see how they can name it a Defender. Will have to come up with a new fangled name for them as the change will be bigger than the S3 to LR90/110

Oof not so passionate about the SWB version from that link  looks like a fookin derranged Mercedes G!

What does everybody think?

I quite like it, especially if they fit the TDV8 for a limited edition launch model....
If they squared it up a bit and made it so the back end can be taken off it would be betterer :)

I wonder what a 90 version would look like.

Considering it will almost certainly be full of a shed load of electrics what would be nice (but highly improbable) would be some self diagnostic gear build in

It would go wrong

Of course it would but hopefully would allow you to fix the ecu before the diagnostic gear failed lol

Thing is though as hard as LR try I doubt any of us would be happy with what they throw up.

Why don't they try making the current ones more viable!? Galv everything, locking diffs all along the drive train, snorkle n breathers as standard, some sound proofing, leak proofing all the little bits we all do soon as we pick up a 'Fender. No doubt there will still be issues but none the less least they could try!

Cos they have to make them more pedestrian friendly I.e less square, thanks to the EU. Plus they also need something that's going to bring money into the company and let's face it, while we love the current defender its hardly the money spinner that the evoque or disco is. Coupled with the fact that more people buy older ones than new, they just don't make a profit

I don't really understand the "EU says it has to change to be more pedestrian friendly" comment that we hear so often. Have you seen a merc' G wagon or any of Jeep's offerings? I don't see them becoming more friendly towards the run over.

If we just paint them bright colours and fit day lights then they can see them coming and get out of the way. Problem solved :p
