Has the vehicle had a sudden stop? There is usually a fuel cut off switch somewhere in the engine bay to switch of the pump in the event of a crash, unfortunatly I have never looked under the bonnet of a D2 so cannot really assist further.

here about a and what does the air filter look like please sorry I just don't know anything about engines
Front of engine. Right hand side. Black cover with quick release clamps on it and fat hose coming out of it.
 
It's intact but a little bit has blown out a little

With the engine off. Follow the pipe that goes from the top of the air filter lid towards the back of the engine. It will go to a round snail shape thing under a tin plate cover. You need to undo the jubilee clip that secures the pipe to the snail shape thing. This is the turbo. Once the pipe is off check for debris in the pipe and also the blades of the turbo
