Also my rings were semetrical orientational wise, 1 piece bottom. Middle. And a rim dodger (small recess on the top) the top one. If you get real stuck I have a spare I can look at this week
 
Update! been busy at it all day! after puting all pistons in, then taking them all out again to check the rings ! DOH, i luckily had them in right ring gap but not all the right way round so thats all done now. Atlas!

Put cam in on rough timing will use a DTI to set exactly

Put all my new lifters in :)

And decided to have a go at changing my discs over as i want to put it back on 4 wheels, the old discs came off with a good few whacks with lump hammer ImageUploadedByTapatalk 21372020776.478986.jpg

Cheers, put all in. I have looked at all my rings and none of them have any markings or un square edges :s i duno what i should do

That seems very unlikely, it might only be a very small marking and may only be a "T" What make rings the brand I mean did you buy?
 
So you are ok now??? Thats good...........its not even my engine but now I am getting exited....photos...photos......pleeeeeeeeeese!!!

Messed about with my callipers tonight, found out why my breaking was so bad! one calliper was 3/4 working and one was 3/4 not working :0!!!!! Good thing i had got new set in stock. Nothing real interesting yet. Just done wheel bearings tonight. Will start torquing up engine on weekend as im gonna borrow a mates snap on wrench :D

Yeah agreed, the colour of the fluid coming out was not very good!

Tonight just dome rear discs, callipers,pads and new copper and new flexes (2"+ and braided). No pics as was using phone for music :cool: will get a load up on weekend of engine and break work :)
 
Just torqued my bolts, wanna triple check with you guys, did main bearings at 75 NM , rear cap at 95NM. Connecting rod bolts at 54NM thats what it says in my book just for peace of mind! did heads at 80FT IBS as thats what ARP recommend for the kit.

Theres a gap there! So im baffled unless they sent me the wrong head gasket? its the same on the other side aswell? what is going on HELP please!
 
Yep its the wrong bloody gasket!!!! my car is a N reg, but the HG i took out is for a 1990-1994 3.9 :s according to rimmers pics! :( well that was a waste of time guess i will need to order a new set of HG. Pretty annoyed as i bought the top end gasket set from turner and didnt have any other options than by engine size :( will get in touch with them hopefully they will sort
