Here is my Freelander 1.8 ES 2001
I thought that i would start this thread, not only to show my progress but to allow me to get help and advice from people that may of had had similar problems and can point me in the right direction.
I noticed a few things that needed to be done..
1. New rear window regulators
2. New clutch master cylinder (clutch pedal had free play and biting point was at the floor)
3. New drive shafts (free play)
4. New drop links (knocking noise)
5. New exhaust and lambda sensor (corroded)
6. Possible coolant/fan fault (not coming on but does with A/C)
and while i was it was all up on the stands i thought i would do some rust proofing.
Well so far i have fitted the new window regulators and i am pleased to say they are now working i also have taken off the old exhaust, drive shafts, drop links and master cylinder...
and after a few hours i managed to fit the new drive shafts and drop links...
and today i had the back box and centre exhaust turn up, so it is in position and waiting for the new front/cat exhaust to turn to be fitted...
I have also noticed that the radiator hoses are extremely hot, but the bottom hose was cold. So i have replaced the inline thermostat with a new one and waiting for a new sensor arrive. I did notice that the engine temp sensor said it was fine??
I have noticed that the fans will come on with the A/C, but since owning her i have not noticed the fans coming on? even with the hoses being extremely hot?
I do know that it has had a new upgraded head gasket fitted recently, and after reading up on the 1.8 i can see that this is a common issue. So i will be looking into to see how i can stop a reoccurrence failure.... like possibly a EWP.
Well thats it for now.
