Well im glad i bought the X-Eng kit before Galving the chassis! I read on the forums that it didnt fit every chassis due to tolerances, so i bought them now and upon trying it today they dont!

So tomorrow ill be elongating the holes!

Got on with welding the rear crossmember up:

Finish it off this week, and it can be welded on the chassis :)
Progress is slow but hopefully good quality!

Now thats what I call a proper crossmember. When mine is due for replacement I'll base it on what I can see in yours. I'm already scrounging around for some suitable box section off cuts.

No update yet due to the Xmas rush at work, but hopefully now i can get a bit of free time to crack on

I did, he's liking the idea of bringing the chassis to him as it means he hasen't got to rewire all his kit.
But he said to give him a call to arrange when and where to get it done.

Nice one Chris cheers.

Thanks for the comments guys. Gagging to get it galv'd now so i can carry on building it!

Brilliant series of photo's, tells it as it is.

One question to ask, why not start with a new chassis?. Spot in Rotherham makes them for about a grand, fully galvanised.

Because ive modded it to accept other fittings so buying one galv'd wasnt an option

Ooh very interesting to read :) You've been on this project for nearly 2 years now?:eek:

I know its been a while.....

Right then! Update time. Even though ive paid to have the chassis welded ready for Galv'ing the guys dicked me about and its been 6 months i think since works been done. So i bit the bullet and paid someone else to finish it off for me. So heres the picture update:

Chris collected it on his trailer:

And took it to his and Mikes where Mike cracked on:

So this was till close of play yesterday when i had to leave to run an errand. Mikey was creating gussets (oooooohhhhhhhh gusssssseeettttttttsssss (say in a pervy voice LOL)) to secure the rear crossmember with using the plasma cutter which is an impressive piece of kit, then just replace and thinning parts on the chassis. The front where the bumper mounts has thinned as have a couple of the drain holes but thats about it.
Ive spoke to him this evening and he tells me its all done! Hopefully he got some pics of progress for me as today i cleared my workshop ready for its return, so ill upload more asap.

Cheers for reading!
