I'm away on holiday whilst you'll be 'doing your trip'
but if you need accomodation and promise to look after the house i'll leave a key under the front door mat, the alarm code is 4352 (but keep that to yourself)
If anyone else would like to use the house or boat or dog or trampoline get in touch.
The missus is also available to the really needy.

The whole request just comes over as a bit odd in my opinion. He's 29 and loves Land Rovers....fair enough. Wants to do a road trip for his 30th in a Defender....fair enough. however that's when it gets odd.
Wants to borrow a Defender. Right....like that's going to happen when nobody knows who he is. Has two friends going on the trip, neither of whom can drive? Wants everybody to sit in the front. Loves Defenders so much but has got to 30 and not got one? Well, my friend has just sold her ex military 110NA for £500 and bought a solid 110 SW 300TDi for £1500 so why not? Cheap Defenders are available.
I don't know. It just seems a bit strange. I'd love a BMW Z4 but I wouldn't expect to go on the Z4 forum and borrow one off somebody!

I admit it is a really odd request and I'm kinda sorry I asked, there are 3 reasons I don't own a Landy of my own
1) I cannot justify the running costs of an off road vehicle compared to my 1.0 Polo
2) I do not have space to store a second vehicle either on or off road, I have only one parking space where I live
3) I live in a town where the need for things that a Land Rover is really good at - i.e. off road is limited only to the speed bumps that the council keep building in the area.
As I said earlier I did expect a certain amount on scepticism about such an odd request, however there is no call for childish abuse and defamatory accusations. aslo I would like to point out I am quite happy to hire from a hire company - if I wanted to drive a Z4 I would hire one - however hiring a Land Rover with bench seats up front is tricky when hire companies do not supply them

i think this is going nowhere. mate no ones gonna lend you their landy. abuse is the norm..
you probably would get somewhere after a good few years of contributions to th forum, a fair few meetings with others on here through the greenlanin trips etc.
but as you cant ave your own landy neither of th above is likely to happen
my advice, go on one of them red letter day kinda 4x4 'have a go urself' things
there grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat

thanks for the info rafa - I can't say I expected to get what I wanted but it was worth a try,
however since the majority of replies have been abusive rather than practical and you state that "abuse is the norm" I don't really think I'd want to join the trips you mention even if I did have a Landy
so I would like a moderator to lock/delete this thread and also delte my account. thank you
