progress was made tonight, got the drivers side window functioning fully again, before it would just slide down and wouldn't stay up, in the end it probably would have been quicker to just change the whole door. U'll probably see that on window that there is overspray, there was and it wasn't me whoever had it before did it.

Could you improvise something at the bottom of the recess the light fits into? With a screw that would adjust the height of the beam?
Not my strong point as I've got the old round lights, so hopefully another Disco owner can offer some more advice!

Nasty nasty... thankfully there wasn't any rust inside it, just in that photo before on the metal frame near the wing mirror, just replaced the whole thing.

Yes I did think that, at the moment I think I'm just going to make some tabs that I can bolt them onto and adjust them as I need.

Ordered a whole load of welding bits and bobs today ready for the next stage of sorting out some of the rusty bits.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that people seal up the welds with stuff afterwards, is it true if so what stuff is it?

Epoxy primer is a good way of sealing things, like welds, as it creates a non porous layer that you can then paint over with whatever is best for the area you've welded.

I bought some red oxide primer, will that do a similar thing or not?

I'm not an expert, but as I understand it, red oxide will give you a fair rust protection - it's designed to inhibit the chemical process of rusting. It's basically a normal paint, so it might fill some of the tiny holes in the welds, but it won't create a non-porous finish like epoxy.
That said, red oxide is very widely used and will give you a really good basis for stopping rust creeping in. Epoxy is just a little better. I'm sure there are people out there who think the opposite and prefer red oxide to epoxy.

Well the indicators came, shame I bought them before I knew it was the facelift front end however they did both work which I'm happy about. Can anyone tell me what the correct ones to order are?

Keep an eye on eBay and FB Marketplace. Job lots of early disco 1 parts come up regularly, including lights and indicators.
