Nice video of the Freelander in action :) Did the Traction Control kick in on that axle twister at 1:20 ?


I was only aware of the traction control light coming on later when I was going up a loose surface steep hill.

But on that section I wasn't looking at the dash as I was going down. Concentrating too much on not hitting the side :D
 
Do you need a lift kit for the tires you got. Im due for some winter tires soon an thought about getting the ones you have fitted. Also how dd you get the temp/ clock fitted in te dash. Thanks for the ideas btw :)

I would be surprised if the tyres fit without a lift kit and spacers.

I used a glue gun, some black plastic and 2 green LED's I found on Amazon, then cut the black plastic to size so the LED's clipped in, the wired them into the light side of the old clock, as I could not be bothered to wire back to the fuse box, so they only work when the parking lights are on, but as my front parking lights are CREE LED's I have them on all the time as DRL's. Didn't really take any photos.

Detachable Witter horizontal towbar with 13pin electrics.
LED interior light bulbs.
CREE LED parking lights
4 tonne bottle jack
Replaced all wheel nuts with new ones.
GB 'euro' number plates
Smaller stainless steel rear back box to replace the large OEM one what was rusting away.

I discovered that my cubby hole was damp. My tools were going rusty.....

Not impressed.

So I emptied the Freelander of 10's of kgs of stuff. The carpet was soaking, but it wasn't trying to float my tools.

I took off the rear trim and one of the foam bits in the offside was soaking, as in ringing wet. So about 1/3 across the back door. I had a CB aerial going past the tailgate rubber so I removed my bracket on the spare wheel and the cable.

I then had a look inside the tailgate. It was interesting.



I'm sure that sure shouldn't be there, so I removed it all....



Here is the membrane back in situ. No idea if I have done it right or not......

I have just taken delivery of these.

Just need a car to put them on.....

It's having 2 new driveshafts, propshaft bearings and a few other bits done to it at the moment.

215/70 R16. Yes smaller than the Grabber AT I have on at the moment, but still bigger than standard by about 23mm. I wanted slightly smaller ones than I have already.

I still have over 50mm extra ground clearance with your kit. There will be no issues with rubbing and snow etc.

These should be more economical than the Grabber AT as well as being quieter.

They are supposed to work well all year round, so may keep them on next summer.

They are M&S so fine for Europe and probably off-roading as well.

I miss the Evolution wheels.

So they are.

They will still work though!!

Should last me a few years.

I got 30,000 out of my last set of winter tyres, which were down to 4mm, which is pretty good.

Winter tyres are generally changed at 4mm as they become less effective below that.

I've recently started to miss my Evo wheels, hated them when I got the car so fitted 16's instead, maybe was a mistake!
