as in the whole way around the door frame?
i test fitted some defnder ones to mine and couldn't make them stay in place, this might be why.

is it worth doing or do i buy series ones and rivit in place?

From what I've read it's worth doing as the seal fits better than the standard series one hence why I'm gonna give it a go:)

do series ones i have them on my s3 and there much better but the still leak !
but its not a genuine series if it doesn't leak

Today i got the drivers side door off.

The frame just where the hinge is had cracked and caused the door top to be rather floppy and it didn't sit against the seal very well at all.

So stripped the door right down to the frame.

This part of the frame was where it was really bad.

Managed to get the whole frame repaired and got the door back together and back on. But forgot to take a picture of the frame before i put it all back together
But the door now sits against the seal quite nicely.

Only other thing i got done today was refitting the rest of the dash and started to wire up my roof lights and cb properly. More on that to come :)

Bit more done to the series today :)

Managed to get the lower front brake wheel cylinder changed so as to be able to bleed that side as the bleed nipple was seized solid. The union with the pipe came out with ease as did the two nuts holding it on. Then a case of hammering it of the hole to break the cast as it wouldn't come out with the bleed nipple in situ:p

Then proceeded to strap up the front shoes to bleed properly.

Although i still have a really soft pedal on the first stroke but can pump it up. Once pumped up however it doesn't loose pressure until i release the pedal and leave it for a couple of minutes.
So my guess is air must be in the system somewhere. Will have another go at bleeding all four wheels tomorrow whilst shoes are strapped up tight.

Decided then to get the drivers side wing of to get decent access to the chassis to give it a good paint like I've done with the rest of it.
Only managed to get as far as removing the wing, jet washing and wire brushing though today.
Can only hope and pray the weather is ok tomorrow so i can rust treat it and paint.
If not I may be able to borrow a gazebo and work under that :)

Here's some more pictures.

Wing off before cleaning.

And a picture of it after a good jet wash :)

Will also give the accessible parts of the bulkhead a lick of paint whilst I'm at it as well.

More to come tomorrow :D

It was all going so well today apart from the wind!

Then this happened! :mad::mad::mad:

20131025_155236.jpg

Managed to stick the handle of my ratchet through the damned radiator whilst trying to take off the slam panel!

So her mot for next week has been postponed as i now need a new effin radiator

On the plus side the chassis is looking really good. Pictures of that to come later when I've finished :D

Reet some pics of the chassis. Forgot to take one before i put the wing back on though

Although I will take one when it comes back off to get the horrible slitty engine out and stick a 200tdi lump in in it's place :D

Will get the other side done at some point next week as the weather is supposed to be ****e all weekend so may not get a lot done :(

Also got a couple of spare disc braked axles back from storage that I'm going to faff with to fit leaf springs in the next couple of weeks :)

Looking good :) Should be nice with a tdi in it :)

Are you repainting it or leaving as is?

Cheers :) Not driven it far but the tdi will be a major improvement :)

I am going to repaint but when I don't know  The mechanical and rust side of things are more important atm :)

I had to Google that:eek::p

But no i couldn't i need it for carrying about steel, engine's and the like :(

May do one day;)

There is an obvious answer to this conundrum, put the crane in this and buy another one for shifting steel :)

I like the way you think :D But more inclined to buy a 101 i know of sat doing nothing instead of another 109 ;)

My dad wants a 101 ambulance. He saw an article in lro about one that was turned into a camper and had a 300tdi put in it for economy,

Coincidentally, we have a spare 300tdi in our garden just waiting for such a use :D

101's are awesome :D what I'd do to get my hands on one! :p and yea i seen that too it looked brilliant :)

300tdi? Nah fit a cummins! :D

Bit more done today :D

Started by getting the passenger side wing off. Then gave it a good clean with the jet washer.

Then found a hole in the bulkhead. So proceeded to cut that out and welded in a patch. It's only tacked on in the picture but i have fully seam welded it in.

Once the hole was taken care of i then proceeded the chassis like i have with the rest of it and then gave it a couple of coats of Manor chassis paint.

So that's the entire chassis rust treated and painted just need to get some waxoil to inject inside the chassis :)

Also two pics of the disc braked axles that will be fitted in the near future
