Been tinkering with the V8 today :)

All been plumbed up and the 3.9 wiring loom has been put in place so just need to connect it all up properly, cross me fingers and hope it starts and runs! :)

The 109 has been stripped down today ready for plenty of welding. The chassis has more holes than swiss cheese and the bulkhead is in dire need of serious attention.

Plenty of work to do! :( and there's plenty more holes.

Tomorrow the engine, gearbox and fuel tank are coming out then i can proceed to start cutting out all the rust and welding in some nice new metal. :)

looks like my first series chassis, not quite as bad though

There's a lot more holes than that :(

Really not looking forward to cutting off the patches and finding out what's underneath. But going to do it properly so has to be done.

Possibly. But I don't have the equipment to do that, or the money to have the steel cut and bent like that. So far easier to do it my way replacing large sections. :)

The majority of the back half of the chassis is where most of my problems lie along with the crossmembers in the gearbox area. 2 of which are being cut out for good.

I also plan to weld on the roll cage mounts for when i eventually get round to building a cage for it :D

Wow! I'm sure it was in (almost) one piece when I left! :p

Plenty of pictures of all the before, during, preping and after welding! :)

Pictures are uploading of today's work :D

The chassis doesn't look to pretty inside! :(

Photos have uploaded :D

Today i got the fuel tank out, engine out, gearbox out, and stripped all fuel lines and brake lines off.
Chassis repairs wise managed to get the gearbox crossmember cut out, drivers side bulkhead outrigger cut off, and a fair bit cut out of the drivers side chassis leg before the next crossmember in line.

Anyway some photos. :)

Gearbox crossmember out.

Some of the mess inside the chassis rail. This was a patch that i cut off. And i was right about the patches being put over rust!

New bit welded in.

More new bits welded in and dressed back.

And that's about it for today as i managed to kill my grinder  3rd one I've killed in a year :p :D

Will get a new one ready for next weekend :)

And also before I start any work next weekend the axles will come off and the chassis will be put on the rotisserie I made. Will make working on the underside so much easier if i can just flip it over ;)

The project has been abandoned. :(

Specially considering most of the chassis looks like this.

I'll have it off you for a fiver

Gutted though mate with all the work you put in :( Saving for a galv chassis or what?
