problem with the rust is one you find the hole, two you pick it, it turns into a crater the size of the car :/ ive you have time an some spare pennies laying around an you love your landy, have it sorted but seriously look around for a good well priced bloke who will do the work, also how are your inner wheel arches?? its not structural obviously but if the mot man canl bash a screwdriver throo it an also mark that down too try temp fixing things like that with fiberglass mesh an webbing?? spray it over then get a proper fix later if money abit tight?? go for the main structural repairs to see you throo th mot
He won't wear that for the rear wheel arches as the seatbelts are bolted to them.
you're probably right about his post whoring to get his count up He's a cuunt for it.. . But in this case he's right. It's a fail.
As well as the body mounts been rotten (they do hold the bodyshell to the chassis) Sills are gone rear cross member is gone. Chances are the rear floor will be gone and if it's a 5 door wheel arches are probably knackered as well. Yes all is weldable but the cost if you have to get some one else to do it for you, is going to be a fook of a lot more than The £300/£350 that the vehicle is worth. And thats before he fails it on ball joints, corroded brakelines, worn bushes etc etc
Scrap the fooker and sell all the bits on ebay you'll make £500 if you sell everything. and buy a newer model. £500 will get you an M or P reg disco on ebay.
Oh and the rear door not unlocking is a worn spring.

Oh and this is what it will probably look like when you take the carpets out and remove the plastic outer sills.. http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f8/keep-scrap-79335.html
Front inner wings,arches my mistake
ok mate, ill let you know when i sort my drivers door for the magic cure lol, hope i helped a little, im off dogs need walking world needs saving etc etc.. le t me know if u fix the door
no offence but i find it hard to believe that the rear end/body mounts are that bad but your sills and front inner wings are ok? have you poked them to make sure there's still some metal there, or are you just trusting in the black underseal to hold everythin together??
personally i wouldnt waste time/effort/money repairing that, an car body repair is my trade!! as Redhand said - flog the bits and buy summat decent using the money you make on parts. if you get it through this MOT then you'll be lucky, but you'll be faced with exactly the same problem next year so its a false economy.
as for bodging the repairs - be VERY glad i aint the MOT tester, or the guy who gotta pull ya motor out a ditch when ya bodge comes apart at a VERY inconvenient moment.

you can get a new one for about 60quid... just takes time taking the old one out and welding the new one in...
mine needs a new rear x member and some patching done on the drivers floor and sills.. not too bad.
but MOT is only march 2010
just hope stevie wonder doing the mot
I love your optimism mate but that disco is a scrapper. You could do all that work and even with a new MOT it's only worth 500quid. I've broken four discos this year that had failed their MOT on rust and none of them were as bad as yours.i really dont think the rust is that bad to scrap it yet!!!
it may be bad but if you make a good job of the welding repairs and its mechanically sound then at least you'll end up with a truck thats a know quantity, not someones elses problem that they have decided to move on. come on,lets try and encourage the dude, i get asked to repair such things every week, i've done it on my own truck too and done right, it'll last him, buy someone elses and in a couple of years (if that) his £500 ebay disco he buys could, sorry WILL, be as bad
