I have an Engel and a smaller Waeco. Both work well but the latter will shut itself off well before the battery goes flat but the Engel will keep going. So with a second battery to charge the fridges the Waeco is a pain - I see the point of a shut off if only one battery but if there is two then I would prefer a second nearly flat battery rather than warm food in the fridge.

I think this one you can set the level at which it turns off to save the battery. Pretty sure I read that somewhere...

Edit: yeah I did "low voltage protection adjustable for leisure and starter battery via electronic system"

I do hope yours works better than mine - my Waeco has two switch off settings - but even the lowest is two high. Having said that just replaced the alternator with 40w for one with 100w!. Five days to go.

Are you all prepared ready to go?

I am sad I am not coming with you, but it was probably the right decision, I would never have been ready in time...

Just have to fill new water tank in rear wheel arch and but food in fridge then off - but trying desperately to keep away from everyone who has flu around me and so far so good!!.

As the weather has come out nice I have decided to do some work on my Defender. Complete new set of front Timken wheel bearings to go on, New Front diff drive flange oil seal, new heavy duty adjustable A frame ball joint and change the timing belt and tensioner. That will do for starters. Then I have a plan for storage inside and some decking on the roof rack.

Sooo I just bought one of these WAECO CFX-50 12/24v & 100-240v FRIDGE/FREEZER £799.00 - Chest Fridge/Freezer Engel Waeco ARB Portable Fridge freezers

brand new for £450 delivered from ebay. Will see what it is like when it arrives, but I think it got a bargain :D

Sounds like a bargain. That was one of the things i suffered from on the last trip, not having something to keep drinks cool or being able to store some fresh meat. I will have to look out for something similar.

That sounds like a lot of work! Enjoy the A frame ball joint, I gave up and bought a whole new fulcrum!

I bought some RX8 seats which I need to fit at some point.

Thanks, hopefully it turns out to be a bargain, I was going to get one of the ones that you have to run through an inverter but this was just too good a deal to miss.

I've done all the mechanicals on my 110 now, just have to put in the second battery split charge thingy, SWRL my CB ariel, put my racking together in the buck and rear seat area.

Its about 5 weeks until we leave to meet ken at some dodgy service station in Morocco!
