I'm planning on using a ferry to Spain
Hmm, interesting Only just seen this thread.
Would love to do something like this, just can't help but think, how suitable would my 90 be when it's done.
Well I say my 90, more it's engine choice (cummins 6bt)
Kinda think a 6BT, would more than adequate! Before I bought this 110 I have I was going to get a 2006 Dodge Ram double cab 3500 4x4 dually for this trip, only reason I did not, was a Land Rover with a few scars and dents does not detract from its value or looks, a Dodge Ram with marks and scars looses quite a lot of value and the weight of the truck in the sand would be a pain, however that 5.9 Cummins lump at 325hp is quite some animal, as is the old International idi 7.3 turbo.
It would be a shame to turn that clean and colourful engine bay into an area covered with sticky yellow sand.
Just throwing some dates down. How does meeting up at a Camp site in Algacerias on Sunday 29th March 2015. Ferry to Morocco Monday morning 30th March.
Friday 3rd April is good Friday.
Then crossing back to Spain on Friday 17th April which then gives everyone the weekend to travel back and get unloaded ready for work on Monday 20th April.
How would that work for everyone? That is providing Ebola or IS have not taken a grip in Morocco.
Can we discuss what spares each vehicle should have, and the what spares we could carry between us?
I have currently kicking about in the barn
4 x drive hubs
set of shocks and steering damper
TD5 rear axle 48 spline drive shafts
+ some other things I cant recall due to hangover
Yeah, I have it booked off. Just double checking with folk. These were the dates which were originally suggested. If I remember correctly Some of you have already booked these dates off. I think we should stick with these unless anyone has any concerns.
Aye, I know then engine has more than enough up it's sleeve.
I was thinking more along the lines of,
Will I be able to keep it cool enough with an lr sized rad.
Is the noise going to drive me insane, as I recon it will be bloody loud even with lots of sound proofing.
Transmission, others have broken diffs with standard engines and I recon it could make mincemeat of it on tarmac never mind anywhere else.
Obviously could upgrade the internals which would help massively, and take it steady.
I don't know, maybe I'm over thinking things.
Time will tell though I suppose.

Well this last trip
One seat belt broke
CB ariel bent - but still worked
Very poor earths - meant lights/wipers/ gauges hardly worked
Clutch fork broke - had a spare - fixed in Assa - but refurbished main cylinder/replaced slave cylinder first - had a refurb kit and spare slave
Propshafts rattling/ vibrating like hell - had spare but did not replace
Rear shock absorber rubber sheath lost so rattling - replaced had spare.
Power steering leak - had fluid to refill
That sounds about the same condition as I set off in mine last time round.
I thought you said you have serious problems.
Well serious enough for me - oh forgot to say it kept overheating driving through the mud.
