Mine is a Thunderpole TZ27 - at the end of the day although it is claimed at 10 miles more often than not a few kms is the limit - despite when on a wide piste you can here the truckers in Scotland cursing and --!.

Ours is going to be mounted on the roof rail with an extra earth return to the battery.

Also we are taking a couple of PMR handheld radios, supposed to be good for 10Km +

Great, I think I am going to go the roof rack mount also. Hadn't thought of earthing to the battery. That seems much easier.

Hi Guys,
I'm new to CB's so I am looking for some advise. I have a hand held Intek 520.
I'm trying to decide on an Arial to mount on the Defender. I'm torn between a Thunderpole Truckers type Arial which has a claimed range of 5 miles 0.89m or if I should go for a large 1.55m whip type mounted on the roof rack of my Defender which has a claimed range of 10 miles.
I'm also torn between a mag mount or a mount bolted to the roof rack.
My thinking is with a mag mount I will be able to use it in other vehicles and when in Morocco it can easily be removed and hidden. I will need to check to see if the roof of the Defender is metal or ali.
Not having been on a trip like this I would like to hear what you guys would opt for.

I have a mag mount on my front bumper. Been through customs at Cueta & Tanger med twice and never had any bother !

Mine is desperate to get out of the barn - its even started to weep - a few drips here and there on the floor. Still its not being used for the meet as it will break down sooner with the extra miles and it might get nicked - will use the RR though that is reaching the dreaded 80,000 miles when the gearboxes start to fail!

Can't wait to get ours back on the road. it's been SORN'd since end of October so want to get it out and give it a good old run loaded up, see how it handles with the new springs and shockers.

hi everyone my dad would like to come on this trip, but the problem is hes got a nissan navara pickup, what does everyone think?

He has to pay the price for having that vehicle and run around the dunes nude.

Mind you considering mine was in half and two of the others are not on the road yet a reliable car might be handy.

we have just had the engine redone on the nissan so it should be almost like new hes towed my landy home a few weeks ago after cambelt chewed itself up

i"ve seen Andrew Garside nude before and beleave me it would scare the camels,on the plus side just think how much alcohol we could carry as a group in the back of a pick up:p

We still havnt booked ferry but we are aiming for Friday 11/4/14 Portsmouth-St Malo dept Portsmouth 2015. Return Caen-Portsmouth, dept Caen sunday 27/4/14 0830.Just waiting for Adam and then we are going to get the RR going 1st time for it on the road since last October.

Ive owned my landrover about a year and a half and in this time ive learned that landrovers spend there life breaking down thats what makes them so much fun :D

Dare I say this. I have owned mine for four years and other than routine maintenance and doing things in advance of them breaking it has been used as my daily runabout and has been on the road all the time
I think I might need a new steering pump, it starts off very heavy on the steering but then seems to mend itself as I go along.
Maybe I should get a CB antenna with a long range, that way at least I can stay in contact as our vehicles break down , scattered across the Moroccan desert.
