Ok will do. Looked at your video on the Yorkshire trip. Did the same rock climb in an L322. Boring did not slip skid or anything no skill needed it just edged up second by second. Scared stiff of scratching it though. Much prefer the 300tdi scratches and all.

Well I think if I would have actually had a run at it, or put the diff lock on I would have done it in one. You would have heard my GF calling me a pansy as well, great support I get from that one.

Yes I heard it all great stuff just the kind of support we all get and like to have.

Hi sorry SD for not getting back to you on the route. It would help to know if you plan to use the new motorway in Morocco as far as Agadir. A good starting point off road is Tafraoute. If you start much further north there is a good chance that routes are now full of the black stuff. It would be a very good idea to get Morocco Overland by Chris Scott if you do not have it already. One of the best routes is MA3.

Further to above if you have Garman Mapsource then you can download free software from Olaf giving you a lots of tracks to put on your Satnav.

Hi,

I got the book and will be reading it when I'm in Chacago next week. Also I'm on target to have my land rover back on the road by the end of October.

I'm going deffo, booked the time of work, my landrover is nearly back together and it will be on the road this month.

Been reading that book everyone recommends as well.

Hi All,

Just a reminder this trip is still on departing on the 11th April returning on the 27th.

The planned route is to leave northern France on the morning of the 12th and cross to Morocco on the 14th from Algeciras this will give us about 9 days in Morocco.

I'll get a route up here in January, as long as I get to the Dunes in Erg Chebbi I'm pretty relaxed where I go.

It will be a camping trip, with the possible exception of a day or two.

Let me know if your interested, currently it looks like a party of 3, a Defender 90 and a Defender V8 (yes we will be towing a Petrol station). Oh and me Disco 300 (nearly not in bits).

Thanks

If you're going to Erg Chebbi, I highly recommend stopping at the Auberge Du Sud.
Absolute stunning place smack in the middle of the dunes.

The planned route is to leave northern France on the morning of the 12th and cross to Morocco on the 14th...

That is a LOT of miles in a VERY short space of time.
We did Santander to Gibraltar in 23hrs on the way there and was hellish enough... Never again.

if we leave on the 11 April and only book 10 days off work ie 2 weeks we dont have to be back until the 29 April because of the 2 day Easter bank holiday.Leaving the Uk on Friday 11 we could cross into Morocco on Monday 14 giving us almost 2 full weeks to play.

Would like to register some late (ish) interest in tagging along for this trip. Im based in Ipswich and drive a 110 200tdi. Time off isnt an issue as self employed but although the fender is good all round condition I need some time to fully prep it.

Spent properly a year of my life under canvas so fully sorted in that department.

Will bookmark this thread and keep an eye on it with interest.

Matt

Well the way I see it the more the merrier. As for prep apart from sump, diff guards, two batteries a snorkel, axle breathers and a good check over mine is going standard ;)

But I do need to kit out the inside a little and stick the rack on the roof.

I checked the mileage to the port north of Morocco its 1400 miles to the port so maybe 700 miles a day is a little optimistic, perhaps three days down and back.

Could be the ultimate MPG test.

SpaceDawg, Have you got any numbers of vehicles / people going? You said you'd PM folk who initially showed and interest, just curious really, would be good to have an idea.

Our prep work is well on the way, snorkel fit, new +2" lift springs to go on, rear tyre rack to assemble and fit, back to fit out, then a bit of a test run.

Anyone fancy a meet up sometime late Jan early Feb somewhere? Have a few ales and a chin wag about the whole shebang

Cheers

Hi All,

I have sent a PM to everyone on this thread or who has contacted me and show a 100% or 50/50 interest in the trip that's 7 positives and 3 50/50's.

Looking at where we are all based I'd suggest we meet up somewhere near Birmingham to discuss the trip. It might not be possible to get us all to meet up at the same time so I'll manage a list of people interested and meet up with Oldun and 3extruckers discuss a route an circulate the details to the group.

Is that ok?
