Nearly finished stripping down Dougal. I'm going to leave the bulkhead and engine in place.
The chassis has been welded up already and is solid.

I'm also keeping an eye on how much I spend as its amazing how it all adds up.
It makes you wonder if you are better off buying one already done? I do think you get,to know the car better when you've done it yourself though.
I've seen some of the other build threads and thought I would do something similar. It is only a light restoration compared to what some of the guys have done on here. I am just looking for a nice looking car that can still be worked without having to worry about getting the odd dent or scratch on it. Also looking at making it a bit more reliable.

At least if there is ever a problem you know how to fix it.
Best way is to take your time & get it right. Don't cut corners & run the odd extra cable in for future projects.

Painted the engine duck egg blue and the rest of the bits black.

Got most of the bits stripped off to have galvinised. Was much easier than I thought taking the gutter off the roof. Also the glass came out easy from the windscreen frame.20180411_154125.jpg20180411_154140.jpg20180411_154133.jpg
 
Are you going to use pop rivets or solid? The roof gutter rivets are a special flat head design, I had quite a few loose and looked into getting a river set to close them but the prices put me off for a dozen or so rivets so I've done a tempraory fix with M5 dome heads. There's also the problem of getting acess to both sides for the solid rivets.

Using solid rivets. My mate used to be an aircraft engineer and his mate has a pneumatic riveter. Think I'm going.to use flat head M5 rivets as there cheaper.

Pneumatic riveters are the way forward. We just re-did the roof on my friends 1941 AEC Matador. I reckon the pneumatic riveter saved us 6 to 8 hours work and also got a nice solid fit on all the rivets. They were M5 as well. Would love to see some pictures when you get round to doing it please Norrie.
 
Yeah no probs. Hopefully get my metalwork back on Friday from the Galvinizers. Can't wait. I need to get.on and paint some more bits. It's been a bit cold to paint up until now. I.painted the radiator panel and had to bring it in the house to dry. Lol.

Welded the other repair panel in today. Also filled and smoothed it off. It doesn't look too bad. Just got a coat of etching primer on just now. Will hopefully get some primer on tomorrow.20180417_193805.jpg 20180417_193920.jpg

Managed to finish prepping the bulkhead today and got a coat of primer on it and then the first coat of gloss. In between when I was waiting on the primer drying I got a fresh coat of chassis black on the chassis. I need more paint to do the axles etc.
