A lot of women are safer in an auto in my experience because they don't have to look at the gear lever to change gear or use 6000rpm to pull away:rolleyes:

You started something there Keith. Expect a female backlash soon.:D:D

I tried to help one woman to learn to drive, she had spent hundreds on driving lessons, she was so bad that the examiner asked me to take her to another test centre if she ever wanted to try again, I let her try my Volvo 960 auto and suddenly she was able to stay on the right side of the road! After a couple of weeks of daily practice, she passed the test.:D

My friends aunt had a similar problem, autobox sorted her too ...

There are men like that also. But you want to see some of the Asian women driving, it is bloody frightening. Their men are almost as bad.

The Volvo was a good car for learning in despite it's size, the steering lock was almost like a London taxi.
Yes I have seen some very bad male drivers too.

I know for a fact some of the cab-drivers in Aylesbury have never passed the driving test in this country. Therein lies the problem, with councils and officials too scared to be called racist for doing their jobs. That's how all this grooming crap was allowed to happen too. Rules apply to everyone or not at all.

Love a challenge like that....
Worked with a guy who loved his K-series freelander so much but was getting tired of its inherent shortcomings with the engine and drivetrain.
His solution was to have us transplant the engine and transaxle from a Toyota rav4 into the freelander.
We kept the ECU for the K-series and with a piggyback MSD module for ignition timing, it run the Toyota engine thinking it was the stock engine.
Everything on the dash works, and it even retained HDC with the more reliable toyota AWD system.
That was back in 2010, and its still going strong today.
My discovery 2 also got a transplant when the stock td5 died when its oil pump bolt fell out.
Posted a thread about that on here somewhere a few years back.

If you ask me, I'd say by all means, take a shot at it and be the first to have a manual L322.
There's more than one way to get the other electronics on the CAN BUS to cooperate after the transmission controller is made redundant, and should you decide to go along with it, I'll be happy to offer advise where I can.

I'm reminded of that wonderful hymn,

Personally I don’t want aids. Leave it for Ejoke drivers.

No TC, no stability management or cameras underneath to watch what happens to cyclists.
Learn to drive in a Defender then everything’s easy
