Have a look at the bmw inpa software or jlr sdd they work with a laptop and are a lot cheaper i believe the inpa will program most ecus you just have to go in under bmw x5 @stustrong knows more.

@brianp38dse The bmw stuff wont talk to anything after a 55 plate (sept 2005) jag powered lumps or tdv8s,
Even though 2008 abs, lcm, air suspension, hevac, body module, towbar module, seat modules ect, would speak to inpa if they was installed in pre 55 plate (sept 2005) but the 55 (sept 2005) onwards have a diffrent protocol through the cluster so it won't,

Inpa wise
Iv tried with my 06 supercharged to get in air suspension but i can't,
On my pals 2005 facelift td6 with the fiber touch screen radio and jag era cluster i can get into it,

I also note that if you wish the doors to lock automatically when you drive off, this is a Dealership button-pressing option…

Or is there a workaround?
My 08 did the auto lock thing on drive off and I can`t be doing with it also had to double press unlock button to open all the doors not just drivers so bought the GAP and with it disabled drive off lock enabled auto relock if door not opened and wipers to intermittent when you stop at traffic lights ect, so invest some of your hard earned dosh making saw dust from chippying and buy the GAP iid @JohnM70 .

Must confess done something similar with the gap iid on my D3 , I activated my auto lock to prevent anyone trying to open my door’s , particularly when in traffic , I also adjusted the CCF in order for the EPB to automatically disengage on driving away , same with regards to the wipers making them speed related

another thing I found very handy was the lights staying on for 30 x seconds after locking the disco to aid seeing the front door lock

at the end of the day the gap iid has certainly paid for itself time and time again

£400 and it only works with one vehicle?? Sod that for a game of soldiers…

I wonder if my Snap-On diagnostic thingy would do it?

Or I could just take it to a main dealer and let a man in a pair of overalls sort it out whilst I am made a cup of coffee by an attractive wimmins receptionist…

Tough choice.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure lots of people get literally seconds of enjoyment ‘tinkering’ with their heaps and can talk for hours on the subject of ECG valve lids and the occasional technical issue as a worm drive misfires against a battering hatch and for whom a trip to Halfords to look at spanners is a fun day out…

I’m not one of those people. I want a vehicle that looks nice, is nice to drive and is easy for me to fill up the washer fluid / check the oil etc. (although I’d prefer it if the car told me it needed any fluids etc)

I’m more than happy to provide gainful employment for a man to clean it, service it and ensure it doesn’t break and if it does, for him to mend it…

I wouldn’t even mind if someone wanted to drive it for me…

God, I love capitalism.

Doesn't one have a little man in tow for all the menial jobs as one should have when owning a RR:D:D

Ok Topdon, If you can’t speak fluent iCarsoft you won’t last long in ear

No, Walker isn’t au fait with motor vehicles. He believes them to be the work of the devil.

I am actually getting prices for someone to clean the RR on a regular basis, apparently it’s quite a good business…
When I had my business, I employed a bloke full time to clean all the cars in the fleet starting with mine of course:) Nowadays, the car gets cleaned if we are going on holiday in it and for the MOT, so every 2 years since Covid:rolleyes:
