BB has put a great deal of effort into this so far, I have contacted places, as has 110, Roy and others I believe. part of the problem we are having is our reputation believe it or not. Aside from any minor disputes that have been had at events over the last couple of years, LandyZone is a forum with a difference, and a lot of people in the Land Rover world don't like it. This means that not only do we have the same difficulty that other clubs have of finding a venue, we have to find a venue that will have us. And because of that "the ideal place" really doesn't exist.
As far as i'm concerned, at the moment Frickley looks promising, if anyone fancies pulling something better out their hat it would be a great help.

Anyone who has spent any time at show's, fund raising or getting ****ed events with any of the people on here know the score, everyone is out for a good time, this needs to bigger and better with as many members with all kinds of different Landy's attending.

 are you .....of course we're not :D

If the P&P site is viable for Frickley but the camping/accommodation bit is not up to scratch ....what about searching just for large campsites within a 30 minute radius from Frickley that perhaps could better accommodate a larger gathering with better amenities and near hotels for those that want it. Why plonk the event itself next to /at the P&P when it will only appeal to a small % ?

not everyone might want to stand in a noisey pub full of locals either :D
plus, yer can smoke while yer stood round a fire getting **** wet thru.

if frickley gets the green light, i'll fetch a caravan for sue

Have e-mailed a couple of venues , including Doncaster Racecourse to see if they are viable venues for the meet/accomodation

Awwww, thank you Neil :D:D:D

OK I'm voting for Frickley :D

Sue- found a large campsite that has facilities for caravans and tents and even an on- site hotel and even a spa :D- all not too far from Frickley

ere Accy - know this probably isnt what we want but Im gonna throw it into the arena for you to say no to -

There is a chappie I have fallen across whilst looking at venues and his job is organiser/facilitator of a number of events all around the country - mainly classic car rallies, 4x4 events, auto jumble meets car club events , tractor/steam engine rallies etc etc

Wondered with his knowledge and expertise that he might be able to open doors where we wouldnt - and organise it so that there might actually be a chance of it happening :D- aware that the cost is a big factor though :(

Eyup, Sorry if I came across a bit short the other day :beer2:

There is quite a lot of accommodation up this way depending on what people want, there's Wentbridge [4*] about 15 minutes away...
Wentbridge House | Luxury Hotel Yorkshire | Wedding Venues Yorkshire
or the Moorthorpe hotel [0.5*] within walking distance...
Moorthorpe Hotel, South Elmsall, Pontefract, WF9 2AA | Pub & bar reviews | Pub news & offers | Pub facilities (but being fairly local, I wouldn't go in, ni mind leave a landy in the carpark... :screaming_bug_eye_f)

There is plenty of camping locally and having spoken to Charlie, I don't think there'd be a problem accommodating a reasonable size turn out and there are plenty of decent b&b's plus the usual travelbogs etc.

Fair enough, its a long way up for the more peninsular members but there might be a greater turn out if it was a bit more northern. :)

There is quite a lot of accomodation but its not really local, not walking distance. Someone said earlier that you wouldn't be part of the whole thing if you dont camp and I think that true if you have to drive 8 miles to a Travel Lodge. Would be far better held near civilisation not in a pay & play site.

The venues I've e -mailed can all accommodate the meet, the camping and all but one also has hotel accommodation on site too :) ..... only down side is , that no one has returned my mails so far
