Hi All

I have a 2003 RR vogue. Had some problems last week with flat battery, so re charged and managed to get the car started. Since then the car has developed a loud buzzing sound that comes over all the speakers. This happens as soon as the ignition is switched on. I have checked the connections on the amp in the boot and all is clean and dry. The buzzing sound is there I the radio is on or off. I would really appreciate any help with this issue

Many thanks

yes there was someone a few weeks ago....a garage had his door card off for something and it developed a buzz....can't remember the solution though!!

If your was due to flat battery, first thing I'd look at is the sat nav and BM54 unit!

Thanks for your replies. I have done a search and see a posting regarding someone having a problem with one speaker. But interesting though as the door card was removed over xmas to replace a wing mirror. I suppose something could have come loose with me closing the door. I will also check out the sat nav and BM unit.

Thought I was getting on top of the things wrong with this car ie fixed the air bag light, replaced wing mirror oh and changed the front air struts in the last few weeks lol

Morning all. Many thanks for your kind replies. Just a quick update. I disconnected the amp in the boot and the BM unit and the sat nav unit. Still getting this noise through just one speaker in the back. Think it's the base speaker. Put diagnostic on and hand one DTC "driver door central locking mechanism short circuit ". Although the central locking is working fine. Any chance this could be the problem causing this odd sound through speakers. Many thanks

The rear sub woofer has its own amp and so doesn't go through the rear HK amplifier

You sure you haven't got damp getting in to it ?

I have had a good look in the area where the main amp is and all looks dry, checked the connection pins to the top of the amp and all clean. With the main amp connected this buzzing noise is on all speakers, now I have disconnected the satnav,BM unit and amp still getting this sound just through the rear sub woofer. Sounds like electrical interference!

It was me who had that problem last month.

My battery went flat during respray in garage. Turned out to be speaker cable came off. Mainly happens when u open doors but does happen other times too. Take the door card off and check the speaker cables. Might have been connected wrong way round.

Hi Everyone

Thanks for all your replies, I took the driver side door card off and all speakers were connected, but found that if I disconnected the large speaker at the bottom of the door, the large speaker in the passenger door on the same side and the base speaker in the boot, the sound is clear although very very tinny, another symptom that maybe connected is that the radio tuner does not seem to pick up very many channels, I have heard that these cars have aerial suppressors, could I have blown on of these. The car has got the led in the door handle and these work fine

Many thanks

Ian
